Based on that interview I'm not inclined to believe that Ishikawa is the problem. Ishikawa clearly leaves it open to player interpretation which is the most efficient and sensible route to take when it comes to complicated moral issues. It's Yoshi-P who has been doubling down on questioning why people like Emet better than Venat or Hermes.
