Also no way would they believe that consinder how popular ff has been globally since well tbh ff6 . the only reason why ffxi wasnt as popular was by the time many ppl knew it existed it was on pc only (it was on ps2 at one time but most ppl were not aware of it) many ppl didnt have internet at home back then either and had to leave home for it... Plus the fact its on pc only after ps2 is total bs ...

In terms of MMOs, eh. WoW was still king in the west until this past year.
Since 2015, the population of XIV was around ~350k active player globally and today it has now more than 5x that amount of active players in 2022.
Since 2017 or so that is when population really started ramping up hard.

third: cant rlly blame op they had the chance to play it smart and add 4-5x more than the population of a server at the time (which is what any smart devolper would do) to future proof for growth forth: they havent expanded or even done anything to apartments what so ever to make it honestly a reasonable solution for people like Op... SO honestly its SE own fault for not doing both those steps. You never subtract from something when u plan on expanding and adding to the game through expansions that is just a stupid move.

Agreed, but in terms of engineering and modularity, they made a big mistake and it seems they don't care to redesign it.

You can check the housing section of the forums, there's a post still at the top by Yoshi P from 2014 about there being a shortage of plots and they were looking for a solution at that time.
That was 8 years ago and despite some bandaid fixes, there hasn't been much to really change the situation.

Nope the prices are still the same as now with the only exception being legacy servers which had higher purchase costs. The difference is that 4m gill back then was a lot unless you were an omnicrafter. While now its short change.
