It doesn't let you load other games in steam with FF14 open? D: That sounds like a whole other issue. I've not had that problem myself. That sucks.

What Ilisidi said. There is lots of downtime in FF14. I don't always play tank and heals, sometimes I have to wait for queues to pop so I do other things while I wait. Plenty of people I know do this. Would be surprised if most people playing on PC don't actually do this. No different than alt-tabbing and looking at reddit while you wait.

I started doing this back in ARR when I was waiting for Book Fates ( when they were still super rare ). I'd just crank the music up so I know when the Fate popped and alt-tab into Minecraft or something to pass the time.

I've never felt compelled to load up another game while waiting in the queue. Unless you're queuing for something niche, dps queues are only 5-10 minutes.

Usually more like 5-15 and depends on the time of day. That also can add up to over an hour+ if you're doing every roulette. I'd rather not sit around picking my nose waiting for DF to pop when I can multitask.

You don't multitask that's fine. Does it bother you for some reason that other people choose to?

This is just falling back to the usual argument of "well I've never had a problem" as a way to downplay the frustrations of others. If you're happy with using Steam then that's great, I'm happy for you. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm frustrated with it and would like the ability to move my account away from it.

Sad to see people on the steam page acting the same way. I'll never understand how some people think that having less control over their account is not a cause for concern even if it doesnt affect them right now.

It's really bizzare to see people so defensive about it. If it was something like gameplay decisions I could understand it, but people are really out here getting defensive over things as boring as account systems. It's very strange.

It's even more strange because it's not like we want to take Steam away from them, yet they're so defensive like were stealing something from them. I see nothing wrong with loving Steam and wanting more integration, just sadly some of us don't have the same love for it. It's been nothing but a pain for me and gets worse as the years go on and they add more "security features".

We just want the option for ourselves, not to take it away from them... yet they give players like us a hard time for not agreeing with them.

That's pretty typical though, people (fanboys/girls especially) have a hard time understanding that us having this, takes nothing away from them.

I'd really hope they give the players the power of what client they want to use and allow a one time swap back if they don't like it. Ever since I've had to link my account through Steam, I've noticed longer loading times to areas where I used to have to wait at most 2-3 seconds to get in non-congested areas. I mean it's a QoL thing, but I shudder to think what would happen if, god forbid, something happened to Steam and people couldn't log into FFXIV because of it.
