Depends how precise sundering is. I can cut a sandwich in half with reasonable accuracy, but the more chunks I cut that sandwich into, the harder it gets.

Honestly, I wonder how much some of the issues around some of Endwalker story are down to Yoshida. IIRC he personally tinkered with the story more this time around, and while he's a great Producer and Director, he doesn't really seem like that much of a Writer.

Leaving things up for interpretation is fine, but a lot of the Q&A came across more like he just hadn't thought stuff through, and some of it was pretty big stuff too.

Yeah i think this is one of the big problems people have with it all. It wouldn’t be the first time it seems either with what he admitted about 5.3, and then along with his comments about how he cried so much with Venat and how they spent so much time making Hydaelyn’s model etc. It’s hard not to think his bias came into play here.

What happened with 5.3? I wasn't active in ffxiv forums or social media at that time so I am totally clueless.

Yoshi P admitted they had a whole other thing planned for 5.3’s ending, presumably Graha dying and it was changed.
