Staggering lack of empathy towards the people of Ukraine
Staggering lack of reading comprehension (they're just stopping demolition; not delaying housing release in 6.1)
Staggering lack of understanding regarding the chip shortage
Staggering lack of understanding how much infrastructure/costs go into housing in its current form, and why you can't just magic houses into existence for every single player
For a troll post, it's not even fun to read.
0/5, would not recommend.
It pales to the death in Ukraine, but it's also what the people along the Eastern Seaboard of Australia are also saying right now.
Sorry OP, your burning need for a pixel house means nothing when events like Ukraine, and Australia, and others are happening.

I do think it is pretty bad that housing was an advertised feature that was part of what made me pick up the game and when I found out how scarce it is I was unimpressed. It's a feature that VERY few actually get to enjoy and I really wish they would invest more into it to allow everyone one house each.
But the obvious reason they paused demo is to not kick people when they are down. Sorry it is frustrating but it is having compassion for people.
They were gone for three years. I don't know any FC's that are still active, have the same people, or haven't been taken over by asshats that pushed the normal people into leaving.
Their complaint there is still ridiculous, but this isn't the part of it to focus on.
They said, covering their eyes with their hands when every other game that spawned before, during, and after the release of XIV managed to do it.
Not to vindicate OP's post, but fuck I'm tired of hearing this drum being banged. "Come play XIV! Housing is a feature! HAHA, PSYCHE. SORRY. INFRASTRUCTURE PROBLEMS. FOR EIGHT YEARS!"
He said semesters, not years. I just get a slight insight-tickle in these threads about losing housing as, historically, the people who scream the loudest were the ones holding onto shell FCs for property.
Besides, being gone a year and a half is more than enough to cut your losses.
You can't even call it a dinosaur system because it had been done better before 14 even came out. If I ever get into a position like OP, and lose it all, eh I have invested way more into my collection of housing on ESO to care. Rotating upsidedown horse lamps > the devs constantly releasing items that don't make sense (the spiral staircase that is functionally useless, etc). They said, covering their eyes with their hands when every other game that spawned before, during, and after the release of XIV managed to do it.

"War sucks and everything ... BUT"
What is your point?First, I want to say that I think what Russia is doing is an abomination. It's disgusting, both what is being done to the Ukrainian people, and the restarting of the cold war. This post is in no way intended to diminish anyone's tragic circumstances, in Ukraine or anywhere else.
That being said, it's time to accept the fact that there will ALWAYS be tragedy somewhere in the world, and it's not a legitimate excuse to ruin a huge aspect of your game, nor to ruin a large number of paying subscribers' experiences.
We need housing, and you have refused for a decade to invest in the necessary hardware required to give housing to everyone who wants it and can afford it. It's old. Your excuses are old. There would be no need for a lottery system if you had just provided enough housing to begin with. The fact that you are implementing a new system means you aren't going to invest in enough server space to give everyone housing even after the new neighborhood FINALLY drops, and including the island.
Why is a feature you advertise actually an unfair competition? That's what PVP is for.
I was one of those people who lost their job to Covid. I had to go back to school for a new degree. It was 3 semesters before I could play again, and I lost a personal house and a guild house while I was gone. I come back and there's zero houses for sale. Ever. I got NONE of my stuff back. But it's OK to make the whole suffer for just a few now? You didn't stop demolition for people like me. And this is a game, not real life.
Since you refuse to spend the money on hardware, the least you could do is start demolitions back up. But the real problem your refusal to provide enough housing in the first place. There should ALWAYS be a lot of every size for sale. Always. If there isn't, you aren't doing your job, and you're ripping us off.
