Tanaka wanted to make it so that there would be an area in which players from XI and XIV could hang out. But they determined because that it would be way to difficult to implement.
That's no moon....it's a space station!
Gungnir, gugnir, gungir, Odin's weapon.
Simple fact... The red orb will obliterate the current Black Shroud 2~4 weeks before the launch to 2.0 and make new one!!! Include temporary limited special event, like "Seasonal Event" or "Imperial Assault Log" with BCNM to fight and obtain the old map as souvenir(?).

☆ Der roegadynische Schwarzmagier mit kritischen Blitzzaubersprüchen ★
Seit FFXIV: AAR ist er auf dem inoffiziellen RP-Server namens Balmung (Legacy).
The object known as Dalamud was built by the same ancient people that the Garilans salvaged there technology from. A object of that size slamming into a planet would not be the catalyst for the changes were going to see in 2.0 it would be the trigger for a mass extinction.
An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
There is no meteor. It's a "man-made" structure in space being controlled by Garleans -- aka Dalamud.
shantotto should TOTALLY ride on the meteor, Dr. Strangelove style

It's really Abysseorzea. The red hue gave it away.
XI:Shadowtaru (Alexander)Manifest(Shiva) Volnaru (Asura)
1.0: Delirium Impulse (MysidiaGungnir)
ARR:Dashe Herate (Sargatanas)Dashe Voln (Excalibur)
I lol'd at the image of Shantoto riding Vana'diel on a collision course to Eorzea, It will be another Shantoto Acention again.
