FF14 and toxic positivity

I think that's the opposite point of the post though? Toxic positivity can be harassment at times - especially if you were around for when EW release was still relatively fresh people who were critical of the game were met with harshness of the fans: emotional manipulation, being told to essentially shut up and be grateful, ect. I don't see how that's the OP wanting to tell people off (trolling status aside) unless I'm missing something here

I skipped the first month and a half of EW knowing it would be overcrowded and que times to long for my short patience plus i avoid forums for the most part i'm just here cause i made some bad choices and now the grind in game is slow so i'm here. But harassment is harassment, if people are telling others to be silent because lets say you don't like Zenos being your stalker or something then they should be able to express their feelings. But if he means something related to the threads here on the forums well I've never seen a compassionate and open discussion and i'm not really sure how to fix that.

There was a critique about the lameness of EW characters some weeks ago, it wasn't provocative and it was rather fleshed out, and one immediate response was a "sorry that you had to admit your terrible opinions in public" or some such. Heck in this? thread I think there's a poster who comes out of nowhere that people should appreciate the MSQ because Soken has cancer and the EW writer has received awards, unironically at that. So yeah it does happen even on the forums at times, reddit especially can be like that as well.

Persons whom enjoy things , even thoroughly , will over discussion see other sides to reasonable opinions , just like all sensible persons would ,
they will appreciate something and enjoy it but will not attack anyone that has an opposing opinion because the subject matter whilst is enjoyed , isn't so precious that it needs protection at all times. They can enjoy something enthusiastically.

That can't be to widespread. There is a 170+ page thread on these forums about Endwalker story complaints. I haven't read the first 100 pages but the later parts is just people explaining their views, positive or negative.

Coming from WoW and seeing lost ark communities... i'd rather have "toxic positivity" over the freedom of speech to harass people and invalidate any concern or feelings they might have. You could legit up and tell people to go off themselves in WoW and never get silenced. You can tell people to uninstall because they were so bad at the game and never even get a warning. Seeing how op is a troll this is probably legit what he wants to tell people off and not have consequences for it.

I am glad you've yet to have anyone tell you to off yourself in this game, or have anyone do some actual serious harassment for months on end while the GM's do nothing, and I hope you continue to be lucky enough here. <3

Just, really noting, as someone who's played both WoW and FFXIV for plenty of time, just because you haven't encountered it, does not mean it doesn't exist. And just because someone's been slapped, doesn't mean they all do, and that's the case on both. And if I have to base off my own, personal experience, as anyone does, FFXIV def is the one of the two with the extreme end, and Square's just probably lucky I ended up more invested here than WoW at the end of the day, or I might had taken my money elsewhere.

It goes both ways.
Look back at all the threads criticizing Endwalker for not being able to log on because of the usual Massive flood of people trying to log in creating congestion.

Anybody who voiced the opposite and said they were able to log in and were having a good time.....or anybody who reacted negatively to harsh, and unfair "criticisms" and attacks on the devs, were called bootlickers, fanboys, White Knights and called part of a cult.
Pretty much just insulting them and invalidating their experience.

It's just a meaningless buzzword created by folk which want to scrutinize the game (which is ok), yet don't want to have their own opinions subjected to the self-same scrutiny by other people.
