Friggin THIS! Like ok, Im still here trying to get some wanted relics, finish Eureka, grind my jobs and I dont necessarily have the time to play this game everyday 24/7

Good for the people who managed to consume all the current content and finished all their other grinds, but for the majority of us that take our time due to legit reasons, Im all for the current endgame content sparse in FFXIV.

I got out for dinner 1 or times a month and the bill is over $100 for just my hubby and I
I'm just saying there is a lot worse things to waste money on. Beside is it $60 or is it$7.5

You are don't know the quality or quantity of content coming. I know people who have endwalker who are 90 yet the sent time socially.

Anyone can spout "this should be this because I said so and I don't care what it takes", but you get a lot farther by working with the current flow than swimming against. "How dare SE make virtual neighborhoods in an MMO in an effort to cultivate communities, and how dare they not nail it right on the first try and lay an unchanging foundation to last over a decade" gimme a break. Now if they NEVER addressed it and NEVER made strides to make it better, then I'd be in your boat. Though as far as I can tell, they've addressed it, many times, and have made strides to improve it, many times.
What's realistic can be seen via what other games are doing with their housing. Those games don't seem to have a problem with instanced housing to the point they allow each character to own multiple housing locations as desired.

Wards don't cultivate communities unless players are present in the wards on a regular basis. Unfortunately this is not happening because in the end the majority of players are here to play the other content in the game, not sit outside a house hoping that one of the other 29 owners in the ward might just happen to be online and might just happen to be in the ward instead of doing other content and might just happen to decide to be walking around the right part of the ward instead of sitting at their own house.

Communities can and do form around the RP venues but I suspect for most worlds there are far fewer RP venues active on a daily basis (or even weekly) than the 192 wards/subdivisions we currently have (or the 240 we will have once Ishgard opens).

It's really a shame because wards could have been the best of both worlds - instanced housing within a community neighborhood. Think about apartment buildings - a common area that act as a portal to the individual instanced apartments. Now expand that to the houses in the wards, with each plot placard a portal to the instanced plots that could be within. Players would see each other coming and going, and even be more likely to stay within the ward to talk to those they see instead of quietly disappearing into their house where they may as well not even exist.

I would be interested in knowing what you think they've done over the years to make the ward system better because I'm not seeing it. Demolition, purchase timers, lotteries - those all mitigate flaws in supply design. They don't create a better experience. I'm still in a ward subdivision that has 29 other owners and no matter how often I'm going to a marketboard or the vendors to buy something, it's extremely rare that I run into another player. I can sit in my yard crafting for hours (which I did while working on Expert achievements last expansion) and never see another player passing by.

Where is the community when there's no one around?

Its 4 months. If folks cant wait that long then go play other games, work, go outside get some air. Re-evaluate your priorities and focus on yourself a bit, I dunno.
The developers DESERVE some breathing room and personal time too!
It's been one hell of a ride they've given us thus far and I am more than willing to let them take whatever extra time they need to polish or rest or whatever they gotta do if it means this game will be just as amazing with the new content as its been this whole time.

Relax and give them some space D:

The thing is there is actually a lot of stuff to do, it's always the matter of if the content is something you want to do or not. I do my mentor roulettes every day, my future hubby probably won't do them. I suppose for people that have been around since 2.0 they'll likely have done everything there is to do or at least all the things they actually care about, and at that point if you got nothing that you wanna do, then unsubbing might be the option until there's a new content patch. Personally I've been playing for 2 years so I've still got a lot of things to do that I actually want to do or will try to do if I feel like it.

Like Zephyr said, this team of developers realized trying to chase that idea is a losing game. They put out the content and we can choose to partake or not partake.
Very few people actually finish the longer grinds. I have yet to run out of things to do.
I think most people who claim there's nothing to do actually mean there's nothing to do that specifically interests them.

    Development takes time.

    1. Farm the alliance raid weekly for the weekly rewards and for the minions, orchestrions and other items.

    2. Do the new story and side story quests.

    3. Farm the new extreme trial 50 or 99 times for the mount.

    4. Waste 10 mins every day on beast tribes, and waste 3 mins every week on custom delivery.

    5. Get a new house at the new housing districts.

    6. Learn and do the new unreal trial weekly.

    7. Do the new expert dungeon daily, upgrade crafted gears to 590 and get the new minion, orchestrion or glamour.

    8. Get the new TT cards.

    9. Any content in the sub-patches such as 6.11, 6.15, 6.18.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

this. people dont understand that the developers are human too, not slaves made to constantly pump out content. good content takes time to make. id rather have to wait longer than have something rushed and it be absolute shit

    I'm kinda... fine?

I'm speaking as a casual players who don't touch harder contents. I don't raid Extreme/Savage/Ultimate or doing things like Necromancer, so I have much less contents to do compared raiders.

I still do some daily roulette to cap tomes, get weekly MGP until it hits cap (half-way now), and do some normal-raid weeklies to gear up some roles I play often. I mix something minor into my playtime, like leveling Trust, playing TT cards, doing EW FATEs... I just don't do them on one-go, but do like one Trust run/day, or 5 FATEs/day. Whatever pace I feel comfortable with.

I plan to rerun the story in English voice (I played Japanese voice first) with an alt when 6.1 with Trust 2.0 drops, but I will need to see if Tonberry re-open character creation or not. And no, please don't talk about New Game+ if you feel an urge. It doesn't reset minor side quests and doesn't give me a feeling of growth through stories, level up and gear up. Period.

If anything, I appreciate the lax that FF14 offers me. I can play games I like, and writes small stories to share with my friends. You would likely appreciate the same if you used to play a Korean MMORPG where you will want to log in 3 hours/day for daily bonuses, doing quests on 5+ characters to funnel main, dealing with gear-worship toxic community that kicks you if your gear doesn't meet their standard, and you never get a break cause every break you take slow down your gear progression to become raid-ready when contents are still relevant (unless you're fine coming into a raid 2 years later where bosses are delete in one minutes)... No, I don't talk about Lost Ark. It was Blade and Soul I played.

As a WoW refugee who came in last year and finally caught up to a current content expansion, i'm leveling all jobs to 90, collecting mounts and glamour, doing all side quests in game, collecting all BLU Spells, finishing all the triad card quests to collect all the cards, maxing out the reputation for all the beast tribes, making my apartment the best it can be and thats just what i can think of as i haven't done a single deep dungeon outside palace of the dead floor 40. I haven't done any end content outside the MSQ and you know what? Sometimes I feel like playing Warhammer 2/3 or a different game thus that delays me finishing my goals in FF14. Like right now i'm crafting 194 collectibles for white scripts so i can get all the lvl 60 crafting tier gear and boy this is taking awhile. If I got literally everything done or at least everything i wanted to finish I'd unsub for a patch or two and pick up a different MMORPG or game to fill the time. So yes i'm ok with 4 months cause it surely beat what i get from World of Warcraft when i was there.
