Better than WoW with 1 year content droughts. What are players who aren't going to do Ultimate do for four months in 6.1?
1. Do the alliance raid, which probably takes 1-2 hours to complete on day 1.
2. Do the Tataru and Hildebrand quests which take 2 hours judging by previous instances.
3. Do the new extreme trial which takes like 2-4 hours to clear.
4. Waste 5 mins every day on beast tribes, and waste 3 mins every week on custom delivery.
Congratulations that's all you have for 4 months. $60 in subscription fees. That's even less than what you get from the typical AAA single player title.
With this little content they should be accelerating patch delivery, not slowing it down.
I simply do as Yoshi-P himself suggested. I play other games. I have a massive amount of things to do in FF14 that I want to do but haven't yet. I have no need to rush though.
I've been playing Nier: Replicant, SMT3, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Pokémon Shining Pearl, Final Fantasy 2 PR. Games not named FF14 exist after all.
You’re aware that this is necessary, right? The housing wards would be awful right now if the original buyers were never subject to auto demolition. Imagine how many plots would be abandoned because someone acquired a house and stopped playing. Imagine how much gatekeeping would occur when someone willing to decided to vacate a plot.
This game doesn’t exist just for the people that play it when they add content but also exists for people that might return or start as a new player. No housing demolition means it would be an entire gameplay system that belongs to ARR-era players and nobody else. I appreciate the initial intentions they had in not wanting an auto demolition but the downside to that is absolutely terrible quality of life, especially when the player base is much larger than it was in ARR.
45 days before demo makes it obvious that it's for money grab purposes rather than what you think it is there to prevent. It would be at least 90 days if they practiced what they preached allowing players to unsub to play other games with no worry about losing their house until the next content patch. You’re aware that this is necessary, right? Sure, it’s an obvious cash grab but it’s still a necessity. There’s already an issue with “housing loggers” in this game though. I play on Lich and running around the ward my FC has a house in, for example, reveals it’s mostly dead. I’m the 9 or so months we’ve had a house, the ward looks no different apart from a few plots changing hand.45 days before demo makes it obvious that it's for money grab purposes rather than what you think it is there to prevent. A 45 day timer is preferable to no timer, longer timers or a Square Enix manually moderating auto demolitions based on arbitrary system/usage requirement. All of these systems have flaws but fundamentally 45 days is long enough to not require a continuous subscription while also allowing Square Enix to keep more subscriptions running concurrently (because that’s easier than timing subscriptions every 40 days).
No given the limited resources housing is for people who play the game not those who don't. 45 days is more than long enough Would be nice if we had instanced housing and a situation where not playing didn't matter but we don't.45 days before demo makes it obvious that it's for money grab purposes rather than what you think it is there to prevent. I'm not fine with it. I wasn't fine with 3.5 months either. At this rate expansions will be every 3 years
Only problem with this is that it has never been 3 months and this is the first time they've increased the time between patches since the beginning of ARR. You can easily check it here yourself: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...patchnote_log/
Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
You could always take a break between patches if you're not having fun.
Of course, taking a break means you lose access to the forums while you're unsubbed. What will you do with your time when you're not makingtroll"hot takes" threads all day?
Another 2 weeks isn't going to kill you.
I'd rather the devs have some extra time so they don't have to worry about crunch or burn out. They are probably already stressed enough as it is trying to meet schedules.
