But they already have a proven track record in this game to back that up. The list that comes to mind instantly:
#1 Housing - The demolition timer added post-release was a classic gotcha trap.
#2 Cash Shop - Originally only had plans to add a few items every so often. Now it is 5-10 items every month or more.
#3 Event items - The first events gave items that you could trade / buy / sell at any time. Now every item is untradable and the only way to get it is a year after the event for $.
The dev team is great but there is no denying SE will do anything that they can to milk this game forever.
You’re aware that this is necessary, right? The housing wards would be awful right now if the original buyers were never subject to auto demolition. Imagine how many plots would be abandoned because someone acquired a house and stopped playing. Imagine how much gatekeeping would occur when someone willing to decided to vacate a plot.
This game doesn’t exist just for the people that play it when they add content but also exists for people that might return or start as a new player. No housing demolition means it would be an entire gameplay system that belongs to ARR-era players and nobody else. I appreciate the initial intentions they had in not wanting an auto demolition but the downside to that is absolutely terrible quality of life, especially when the player base is much larger than it was in ARR.
45 days before demo makes it obvious that it's for money grab purposes rather than what you think it is there to prevent. It would be at least 90 days if they practiced what they preached allowing players to unsub to play other games with no worry about losing their house until the next content patch. You’re aware that this is necessary, right? Sure, it’s an obvious cash grab but it’s still a necessity. There’s already an issue with “housing loggers” in this game though. I play on Lich and running around the ward my FC has a house in, for example, reveals it’s mostly dead. I’m the 9 or so months we’ve had a house, the ward looks no different apart from a few plots changing hand.45 days before demo makes it obvious that it's for money grab purposes rather than what you think it is there to prevent. A 45 day timer is preferable to no timer, longer timers or a Square Enix manually moderating auto demolitions based on arbitrary system/usage requirement. All of these systems have flaws but fundamentally 45 days is long enough to not require a continuous subscription while also allowing Square Enix to keep more subscriptions running concurrently (because that’s easier than timing subscriptions every 40 days).

No given the limited resources housing is for people who play the game not those who don't. 45 days is more than long enough Would be nice if we had instanced housing and a situation where not playing didn't matter but we don't.45 days before demo makes it obvious that it's for money grab purposes rather than what you think it is there to prevent. Or yknow, they could just have housing be instanced. That way we also wouldn’t be tied to such a limited item decoration limit, but because Yoshi P sama doesn’t like it we can’t have itYou’re aware that this is necessary, right? In terms of content, i think this game severely lacks it, especially when we got less stuff on release. Literally skipping us out on dungeon gear now, and also reusing gear still while also still not making it dyable. Each expansion it’s just more and more downgrades while the game makes more and more money. Now the patches will be taking even longer. It’s a small increase but it’s an increase nonetheless, which having that on top of the massive delay we had for this expansion it’s just… a slap in the face to put it bluntly. People say play other games but that’s not an excuse for it. It’s just a deflection to the problem. People said the same thing about shb and look at that. No hildibrand. No deep dungeons. Cut down dungeons, no allied beasts tribes etc.

You're right but 45 days is far too little, quite obvious SE just wants to lock people into a sub, they don't care about vacant plots. Something along the lines of 3 months makes sense. You’re aware that this is necessary, right? The housing wards would be awful right now if the original buyers were never subject to auto demolition. First off you went on a different tangent and even added more hyperbole with stating they add 5 to 10 items on the cash shop every month which is not even true. Second off, if you're going to prove a point, don't be hyperbolic. But they already have a proven track record in this game to back that up. The list that comes to mind instantly:

Besides Yoshi P said why they're delaying the patch cycle by 2 more weeks and honestly I don't think it's such a huge deal. I got a house in-game too but I'm one of those that never unsubs and only plays XIV, but for someone that has a house and wants to take a break and unsub I'd imagine if they really care to keep their house they'll take a couple weeks break so that they can come back to stop the demolition timer (auto-demo is after 45 days iirc) and then leave again for a couple more weeks if they want to.

You must be new to the game.
FFXIV is kinda designed for you to unsub in content droughts. It's not like WoW that is made to always keep you entertained by itself, at least ever since ShB started that's been the case. They don't make a lot of content at endgame in this game, and most of the playerbase has just accepted it at this point.
I wish there was more, but it's a dead horse at this point. FFXIV just has nothing to do after a point.
