I think if NFT's come to this game, a lot of people will up and leave. Would they want that and lose out for something that won't even sell? Companies need to get in into their thick skulls we don't want NFT's in our games

Oh, I doubt that they would have any trouble selling NFTs here. Heck, people pay an arm and a leg for out of print statues/emotes/minions, and the prices on the NA store are also pretty expensive for something as simple as an action figure or statue. They can get away with it because they know people will pay their prices. They could get away with it if they really wanted to. I just hope they don't take that plunge with FF XIV. I'll be on the forums the moment it is announced voicing my displeasure.

The way a good percentage of this community worships Yoshi-P, if he ends up doing that stage talk about NFTs to say they're a good thing, that chunk of the community would start saying NFTs are good just because he said it.

The main way I can see Square using them working so far is kind of like a virtual amiibo. The NFT itself has no interaction with the game, but it interacts with a purpose built tool that gives you benefits in the game.

E.g. "Rare Tier Nomura Artwork NFT! Buy one of this collection of 100 and get exclusive emotes/mounts/glamour for XIV and a new summoning materia for FF7R!"

The least labour intensive way of integrating NFTs with video games is just to not bother, and just set up marketplaces for them that the company can take a heavy cut of when people engage in speculation. Then to use them as keys to gatekeep extra content.

I feel like that example is better served by the online store and having the NFT be associated with more than one game could be problematic.
