Keep in mind that they said "at this time".

Look at my signature and well there's a ton of times where Yoshi P straight out lied that he wouldn't do something or x and it was or became Y instead.

Don't celebrate just yet though. I hope just as you that NFT's won't make it into the game but the future is uncertain. Remeber that SE just like any other game company wants to make money.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I think if NFT's come to this game, a lot of people will up and leave. Would they want that and lose out for something that won't even sell? Companies need to get in into their thick skulls we don't want NFT's in our games

FFXIV is my last bastion of online gaming, and one where I still feel like my experience is respected by the people running the show. If that soul-sucking dumpster fire otherwise-known-as NFT's so much as touches this game, I'm done with MMO's for good...I'm certainly not alone in this sentiment.

Don't confuse lying with plans changing after seeing how something works out in practice. It's only a lie if he knew at the time he made the statement that they were actually planning to add demolition to the game.

He may not have final authority over whether NFTs get added despite his position as Producer/Director. If shareholders pressure the Board of Directors into adding NFTs because they think it will increase their investment return, YoshiP may not have a choice regardless of his own preference.

That will only happen if idiots don't start buying NFTs. Sadly there are a lot of idiots out there. As long as a rich sucker will waste money on it, someone will sell it for profit.

For me the question is how much would my game experience change if NFTs are added and I choose to not to engage with the in-game NFT market.

What are you talking about, NFTs are just horse armor with a super special number! The way I see it, if companies can get away with dlc/cash shops in it's current state with minimal pushback then it's only a matter of time until NFTs becomes accepted. That said, I would rather be pleasantly surprised than right though I rarely get surprised now a days. :/

How it's interesting? It's just a digital token to show have something. It got no practical use really

To anyone who genuinely thinks this, I'll explain: NFTs are a digital receipt, that's all. They do not prove ownership over an item or object ingame or irl. For example, take the NFT profile icon stuff:

If you purchase an NFT of a profile icon, that does not mean you now own the profile icon - you own a digital "piece of paper" that displays the receipt of the profile icon.
An easy way to understand this: Let's say I have a line, a queue. It does not go anywhere, but it exists. I sell places in that queue, and "good" numbers (1, 2, 5, 11, 69, 2222, 666, 4444... etc...) cost more to queue in to. Now, you buy that "queue" spot, that number. You purchase that number, and I give you a visual representation of that number. I can change that visual representation whenever I want, because you've only purchased the "number", not the visual representation OF that number. But I allow you to say "I own this *visual representation*" because it is more lucrative for me.

That's an NFT. All you own is the "receipt". The number. You don't own the picture or ingame item etc behind the number. That can be changed whenever (though obviously to foster trust between the NFT owners and creators, it is in their best interest to not change it until they deem it suitable).

You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Cryptobros, not join them! Bring balance to the dynamis, not leave it in darkness! You were my brother Yoshi-P! I loved you!

Good way to look at it.
