    I'm sorry to be your "that guy," but, considering the number of people who feel the exact opposite way, it seems that you may just be a bit over-sensitive to the stress of/and the responsibility of healers. It's there, absolutely, but it's not exactly compelling anymore when everyone else can do your job for you and render you obsolete for both fun and function.

A gaggle of Dancers can still better replace a healer than an RDM in most 8-man content, and in the few exceptions, a Warrior still does better than the RDM.
    I am just recalling my experiences from back in Heavensward til now, being healer and playing with the general public. It was probaby swiftcast I was thinking of again, but I can't remember now. I just remember it lacked something and I got roasted for it a few times (I could swear it was esuna but again, been a while). *Shrugs*

    If DNC and WAR can heal/support better than RDM, I've never seen it in action. It got to the point that RDMs were expected to drop DPS and raise (because that double/triple cast) so healers could manage their mana for more dps. I saw this a lot in Eureka mostly but also in some raids. Not Savage even but just the standard.

    And yes. Role skills were abused. By tanks. In Stormblood, if you didnt manage your own enmity with your aggro-dumps/utility skills you could expect a shirk or just not have your aggro picked up. It was mostly idiots and not good players who did this but it was indeed a Thing.

    Rdm/prog mage brings the most value for its role to 8 mans because it can raise people easily and not oom the healer. Rdm mages shouldnt break their rotations to raise people when killing an 8 man raid because there rotation falls behind for burst windows. Rdm is the single most valuable job when progging a fight though. Rdm lets you prog faster because you don't wipe as easily to 8 man mechanics because people are dead or healers are oom/don't have swiftcast. Once prog is done no one should die to mechanics, those that do should still be in prog groups which is pf clear parties in a nutshell.
