Stop tanking then. Nobody cares about your 20 years of MMO experience. Press your cooldowns, do your little aoes, quit being a primadonna and put your big boy pants/panties/thong/whatever on.Tanking is the most stressful role and healing is second, in my 20 years of MMO experience. How many times have my groups, raids etc wiped because of DPS pulling , etc ... You only really begin to understand the content properly when you spend time tanking. The tank shouldn't be lead around from the nose by DPS, this makes me log out and or stop tanking. If the tank asks you not to pull and you ignore them, then sure, enjoy your death. If the content is hard challenging content, you should not be pulling as anything but the tank or for strategic reasons agreed upon.
At the end of the day I guess it's about tolerance, I just don't have it in me to be dragged around by noobs anymore. I spent years in that position as it is.

Sorry to hear that you haven't improved despite healing for 10 years.
Logged on to just say, Yoshi changed the TOS recently and asked us not to "compel a playstyle".
If a DPS wants to roleplay a Tank, I am going to let them. I am not going to pull aggro off of them because following the TOS is important to me. I'm not going to berate them in chat, and I'm not going to tell them to stop. I am going to continue hitting the mobs that I pulled and keep it moving.
If the DPS dies during their RP, I can only assume it was a part of the experience that they wanted. Maybe they have a masochistic streak? Hopefully the healer can handle their decisions.
Each role has a purpose and a set of responsibilities. But if people want to RP other roles, I am all here for being supportive! So peep the name, I'm on Aether, if you get into a dungeon with me, go ham! I will not compel you to stay in your lane, just as you will not compel me to adopt your playstyle.

Except you have to actively refuse to take aggro by stopping to aoe. Otherwise it's impossible to not take aggro. So you are very much forcing your playstyle on them. No DPS wants to tank the mobs they pull, that's just something you made up to excuse your own petty behavior. Please grow up.Logged on to just say, Yoshi changed the TOS recently and asked us not to "compel a playstyle".

Everyone's all "can't compel a playstyle uwu" until they get matched up with 2-3 other players that would rather auto-attack mobs to death instead of play the game. What if I want to RP a level one NPC?Logged on to just say, Yoshi changed the TOS recently and asked us not to "compel a playstyle".

YPYT players are actual subhumans and I remain correct in my assertions.
Oh interesting perspective. But it doesn't make sense to me. If DPS don't want to tank the mobs they pull, then they should consider not pulling.Except you have to actively refuse to take aggro by stopping to aoe. Otherwise it's impossible to not take aggro. I don't have to adopt their playstyle of "DPS pulling". My playstyle is that I'm the tank, and I pull and per Yoshi, they don't have a right to make me change that. If you don't like it, that is 100% fine. Leave the dungeon as the TOS suggested, or enjoy your RP.
It's a fun playstyle! I enjoy it. <3
Do it then! I honestly just leave dungeons if people are bad. Like I don't get what's so hard about this, you do not have to play with players that you don't like. If their playstyle offends you or makes you angry, leave and requeue! It's just that simple.Everyone's all "can't compel a playstyle uwu" until they get matched up with 2-3 other players that would rather auto-attack mobs to death instead of play the game. We are 100% in control of ourselves and our own games and we can't make other players do anything. So if you want to pull, pull! Just don't expect me to have to play your way dear.
I mean, if you wanna play the "b-but Yoshi-P said!!!" It's also against ToS to refuse to participate. That includes not picking up aggro on the mobs a DPS pulls as a tank. /shrugDo it then! You know, you can pop your stance and food as soon as you load into the dungeon, before you can even leave the little cutscene circle. Failing that, you can do it while running towards the first pack. How'd you let the BLM take three attacks before catching up? Did you not use sprint? Did you not gap-close? Personally, I'd be ashamed of myself if I let a DPS die because I was spending too much time at the start of the dungeon "activating my tank stance" .Lets put it this way. Had a twitchy, jump happy Black Mage decide he was going to sprint ahead and pull at the onset of Mt. Gulg.
All this while I was setting everything up, tank stance, bit of food, making sure everything was set for monster pulls (that you can actually do in that instance).
Dude lasted about 3 hits before I got there and got my first AoE in.
Moral of the story: If you can't take a few hits, don't go in front of the tank whether you're a healer or a dps.
Idk.. Most times I've been in dungeons and where a DPS has pulled additional mobs, they've then proceeded to run around like a headless chicken expecting the tank to play a lovely game of tag. Do as you wish, but if you're going to play a game of tag with the mobs you've pulled then DPS only have themselves to blame, especially if they don't at least let the tank know they're pulling extra, or if they don't have the courtesy to actually have a middle ground with the tank. Pull them, take them to the tank and let the tank do their job, let them know they can pull or handle more (or not) and leave it at that, but if you aren't doing that much then contrary to your insistence you're just being a hindrance to everyone else.
