Ah yes, the “I don’t like you so leave” approach. A forum regular response from anyone whose feelings get in the way of the reality not everyone wants to play hugs and cuddle puddles with everyone they meet
Mmm, no, the only thing I have ever seen Kolaina say about the subject is that telling someone to play a different game because they don't conform to how you think it should be played is cliche and a crutch for people's arguments on here. You should be careful not to misquote someone to try and have a "gotcha".
No, simply addressing your opinion that you aren't here for anyone else, then what is the point of playing an MMO. You just like others helping you do something, but you refuse to help them in return? Let me guess, you probably naked queue too, huh? Stand around in Eureka while people spawn NMs and then pitch in? I can see it now. People like yourself are the reason I wish I wouldn't have came back to the game.

anyways, idc I don't mind waiting. It's like 1-2 minutes extra it's not going to ruin my time lol. watching cutscenes from the inn kinda ruins the experience/appeal so I get not wanting to do that.
If you're pulling as anyone but the tank I'm going to let you die if I'm your tank or healer regardless if someone is watching a cutscene or not. It's more of a waste of time to intentionally let someone who pulled early get wiped and have to reset the boss than it is to jump in and help them if you are not watching the 2 minute cutscene.
Just wait till some people in this thread learn that I also insta-pull during the Toto-Rak and Stone Vigil pre-final boss scenes.
If they cancel, they miss the chance to get the full experience right there in the moment. Something that we as vets did get. It doesn't cost us anything to do what we can to preserve that experience for anyone who joins after. The more new people we drive away, the less the game can grow and improve. And if it's gets bad enough, it turns into a mummified niche clinging on for 20 years like EverQuest.Okay, if that is true then I am not seeing why this would be a recurring issue that spawns a ton of pages. I mean it's nice to be able to watch the cut scene as it happens, but if the group isn't willing to wait for new people (they should say "hi I'm new, can I watch the cut scene" or something ) it shouldn't be a huge deal to cancel it and just watch it elsewhere.... at least that's my opinion.
Again, you underestimate how easy it is to stay alive as a dps or healer when most bosses are as telegraphed as they are. You can choose not to participate if you wish, but chances are that someone else will join in the moment I land the first attack and we will all finish the raid faster while the new person is safe within the cutscene, free to enjoy it for as long as they wish. We will all then forcibly watch the true final boss cutscene during its transition.
Letting people wipe "to teach them a lesson" is an example of uncooperative behavior that violates ToS. Pulling when the majority have already watched a cutscene in a *24* man instance is not. Also for the dungeons I mentioned in my post-if you think I will sit there doing nothing during one of those dungeons that literally goes out of its way to slow people down with poison puddles and another whose pre-boss cutscene must be at least 5 minutes long, I am very sorry but I would rather bail entirely in favor of a shorter dungeon and leave the sprouts to find someone else to do the run with.
I notice that we have gone past trying to appeal to my morality, but I am still unconvinced of the sacredness of letting sprouts watch the entire minutes-long cutscenes without pulling ahead. There is simply no justifying the wait past the first 2 weeks that the raid launches in, because after that chances are most people you'll see in there are no longer new and want to just grab their loot and leave.
I agree with you completely. No further words are needed. On the other side of things, there's people that call for others to be nice, patient, and understanding while in the same breath, telling others to quit the game. People who act vile under the guise of, "I'm the good guy. I'm looking out for everyone else".
Of these two types of people, I know which one I can trust, and as such, which one I respect. Although I may not always agree with them, at least one shows who they really are. The other will show themself when you have a "wrong" thought.

Actually, I used to think people like Kolaina were mean. The reality of it is people like them are some of the most honest people in this game, and especially on this forum. They may say things you don't like, but it doesn't make what they're saying wrong.

Watching a cutscene for a story *during* the event of the story occurring is *way* more immersive than watching it later. It's like when you see a movie in a theater and then before the ending you're ushered to go out and watch the ending in youtube or something, it's not going to have the same impact, not even close.Okay, if that is true then I am not seeing why this would be a recurring issue that spawns a ton of pages. That being said, i always tried to wait even in a Raid for first time cutscene watchers. But if the rest suddenly pulled, what can I do but to join in? Especially if i am a Tank or a Healer.
This however, I just don't understand. Giving your fellow first-time players a courtesy of only probably what, 2 or 3 minutes? of waiting while they watch cutscene is just something that is so easy and painless to do, I just don't understand the selfishness of not even wanting to do that. It's mind-boggling. Is it really that hard/difficult to do?
