I had a Seat of Sacrifice party just now in DF that went mostly well aside from one hiccup at the start.

At the beginning, Elidibus knocks everyone to low HP and inflicts them with a debuff that instantly kills everyone if they aren't healed to max HP. So at around 6 seconds left on the debuff, I Vercure myself twice upon seeing that the Healers are done healing, followed by both Tanks and a DPS dropping dead seconds later. Thank goodness for Verraise.

Yep, this can happen, and it can also happen in Dun Scaith with the ice. Of course, you can knockback-prevention that, but most people don't so if it dies as it goes off, well...

The best part was someone had joked about the fact that we had two dragoons and a red mage in the party, so to prepare for backflip shenanigans. I said, "Hey, it hasn't happened to me yet, and I just hit level 78! Of course, this just means I'm utterly doomed to do it at some point in the next two levels."

Five minutes later, as I yeet myself into space, I stare at the screen for a moment and then remark in party chat, "Well, I said it had to happen eventually..."

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

To add to this, almost any healer (save AST) is going to somewhat-of-necessity be hugging you when you end the pull, because they're going to need to be AoE'ing the mobs and their AoE attacks are centered on the healer themselves. Any mobs the healer still has at the end of the pull should thus be clustered into that same clump you already gathered, and immediately swap their attention to you after the first AoE or two.

And you can turn it to your benefit, too. I don't bother casting Regen on a tank before a trash pull, because most tanks generally won't take enough damage during the pull to be worth it, and that's another GCD where I can cast Dia and start a DoT ticking on a mob. But there is an exception, and that is how a friend and I use the mechanic whenever we're doing WHM/WAR (regardless of who's playing which). WHM throws Regen on the WAR, which means the mobs aggro on the WHM from a distance. They start running towards the WHM. WHM stays right behind the WAR, so as the mobs narrow in on the WHM... they very helpfully cluster themselves up perfectly for WAR's cone AoE to hit all of them once in range, immediately pulling aggro off of the healer.

Tanking in roulettes, I usually just poked each pack once with 1 AoE to ensure I don’t take too much damage from first pack’s AA & to get a full benefit from the 20s sprint.

On the other hand, I’m seeing it’s more common for SMNs to rip off enmity from me I was still pulling the mob to walls than healers’ regens. At least that’s what happened to me while tanking in roulettes since EW dropped.

When I see SMNs in party I just hope the mobs are all in range for me to fling tomahawks 1 by 1 as we run to the next wall. Gladly they usually are thanks to the 20y reach.

Good to know it takes 5 Vulnerability Ups for the tank to one-shot die to the tankbuster at last boss, Smileton.

This happens surprisingly often in my personal experience, but it makes me laugh every time. Typically it occurs with shields because people see a "full" bar and forget there's the hp bar and the shield bar, so I'll be looking at my/my fellow tanks bar, watching the countdown, thinking "oooh boy here it cooomes"... and then Living Dead has claimed Another Victim(s).

Does anyone else miss Sole Survivor? ... Just me? ... I thought it was funny... : (

On this point, you actually don't get access to the gear vendor until after you've cleared the 89 dungeon and trial.

Still, if they've gone through the MSQ as tank then they should have received at least some gear upgrades, unless they've had phenomenally awful luck and received a necklace from every dungeon or something unhelpful like that.

This is from a Praetorium run.

We advanced till the Gaius boss in the elevator. It is not rare for people starting the fight before everyone loads in, even without tank. Seeing that a tank and two healers are already ready, I started the fight.

The tank, perhaps was still loading in or just afk-waiting for full group, didn't tank at all. No big deal cuz healers can just heal themselves, but the tank's passiveness made Gaius dropped an AoE puddle and AoE attack right where people spawn in. People, obviously, just move away from harm's way, save for a single DPS, who seems either afking or still loading in, died. And this happened two minutes into the fight, so even with slow-loading, everyone should be already in.

That was when hell broke loose. The tank started to accuse us healers as trolls for letting someone die, and bots for healing ourselves from the boss damage. What did he expect us to do? Just take the damage and lay die? No one would've died if he as a tank just throw a ranged attack at the boss and took the threat. But no, the healers must be at fault! To make it worse, he belittled the another healer, who played AST, for throwing card randomly??? It is Prae where people are so relax they don't even care about performance, and as long as AST throws cards, it is a DPS boost, even if it is placed on wrong class, so I cannot fathom his train of thought at all.

To make it worse, he seemed coming with friends, who suggested to have both healers kicked. They even refused fighting Ultima, and they managed to get other people in the party to be with their scheme and refused fighting, cuz they had enough people to vote-kick everyone. It was the second-last boss, and he wasted us healers a good 40 minutes for nothing cuz he could not understand that healers in FF14 can do more things than just healing.

Their toxic behavior were reported, obviously. I received a GM response saying that the case was handled, but I don't know if the punishment was handed out properly or not. And 5 of people from that run were from Tonberry. Make my stomach sick cuz most of other Tonberry I knew were such nice people.

That run is also the first time I meet such straight-forward toxic people in an English-speaking party. I play this game since September 2020 in Tonberry. Imagine my shock.

What!? Oh wow, that thread was an institution. Sad that it had to be put to rest, but the Mod's explanation made sense and they were very classy about it to boot. Here's to a bright future in A Thread Reborn!

Hmm, I've had good luck with getting decent players in Duty Finder lately, so no horror stories there. But as I've been putting alts through Stone Vigil I've noticed some really odd behaviour. You know the second boss, where a dragon swoops by the window and you shoot it with a canon? There's a tornado that spawns, and I swear I remember that it's supposed to randomly roam around the room so you have to watch out for it and avoid it. But I've noticed that it doesn't seem to move anymore -- rather, it plunks down ON TOP of one of the canons. Sometimes it's even the canon you're supposed to fire, but you can't, because the tornado is literally CAMPING on it. It's like it's intentionally trolling me or something.

Anybody else notice this? What happened? Did a recent update mess with the code and the boss fight is bugged? I have been doing this mostly with Squadron Command Missions, so I wonder if there's a conflict there.
