This, quite frankly, I don't much care about at all. I simply care about what is fun and engaging and I'd argue, a lot of the playerbase is as well. If it's fun, players will play it. See old WHM. Sure, more effort should be rewarded but I really don't see it needing to be the main focus especially with designing SCH.

Resource management with ED is fun and engaging for me. Dumping stacks on overheals like on SGE is not.

This is precisely my point. Healing isn't required in this game and this is why we're even talking about ED, when I believe it should be exactly what you just mentioned. Let's talk about why the devs insist on making most of our healing kit superfluous, the real issue, not ED which is the only thing that gives SCH any amount flavor and differentiation from other healers.
