Maybe he got the word wrong... the flora really is nice in that Duty. Like Brayflox, AV is a very pretty dungeon.
Can't dispute this. Trade Mentor needs to be chopped.

Leveling WHM on my second character to be more flexible going through Savage in PF (only had SGE leveled before). Got to the point of Aurum Vale, so a low level dungeon and I don't expect too much from the players there. Get 2 RPRs and a PLD, found out afterward that they were a premade (all from the same server at any rate). Run goes fine, PLD's a bit slow initially but I don't mind. Just before second boss he decides to pull over half the room but does so by using Shield Lob. Since I was running with him and had a pre-casted regen rolling, I got all the remaining threat and died just before my swiftcasted Holy stunned them. Results in an unfortunate wipe.
I tell him that he doesn't have to Shield Lob to pull but that a normal AoE works fine in as constructive a way as possible. The only response I get is a tripple dot from one of the RPRs. I ask the guy what's up with that and his reply is as follows, copied in all its broken English glory: "nothing is just... the duty fauna never cease to amazeme". I can only assume he's implying that he thinks I was being toxic.
This guy was a mentor. A crafting mentor, to be sure, which is the biggest type of meme player out there and I instantly assume their skill is lower than that of someone who's never actually played the game, but giving people tips is literally his self appointed job, yet he didn't do it, and considers someone else doing it toxic. They really need to start monitoring who they allow the mentor status.
Mentors don't exist in savage. The mentor system is designed for helping newbies, and nobody is a newbie if they're progging savage. If you're expecting savage-level skill from a mentor, you're most likely going to be disappointed - Not because "mentor bad," but because the system isn't designed for savage players. It's designed for newbies, which means mentors only need to be good enough to answer newbie questions.
Generally, you're better off not expecting anything from mentors in savage. It's just not their role, their role is to help newbies.

That's fair, or I just completely misunderstood and he meant that he was impressed by the enemy's (fauna's) ability to beat us up so efficiently. Perhaps I jumped to conclusions too quickly!
I knew some people considered Aurum Vale challenging for some reason but I didn't think anyone would compare it to Savage.Mentors don't exist in savage. When I play DNC in high-end content (rare, I prefer SGE or GNB), my opener will typically put me at #2 or #3 -- but after that, I'm never above melee.
I give up with you people. Forum community is absolutely unhinged. Imagine joining my alt's FC just to wait for me to come online to harass me lmao.

So this happened:
I mean... coulda just said you didn't want to MT, rofl. I really hope that was just a joke because what. No wipes and a few of them died here and there which I attribute to the time of night, just... what. XD Everyone minus myself were from Sargatanas, too, so I assume it was a premade. I've said it before and I'll say it again: what is with that server???
... Now if only Hesperos would drop the gd orchestrion roll again so I can lose it on a +95 roll... again. ;_;

Yeah, I was on Sargatanas, and from my experience, the overall quality of the players there....is, well, interesting. So this happened:

The Dead Ends
Me RPR, a BLM, an SGE and a GNB.
No "new to dungeon" message but I'm gonna assume the BLM only ran it less than 3 times because they kept dying to everything. They were probably greeding though. Scary thing: Healer and the BLM died midway on the first boss and it was me and that tank (GNB) in a mad dash to kill the boss before it kills us.
At 0.4% I used communio to drop to 0.1% lol and all I had left for a quick strong attack was Shadow of Death and that ended the fight with both of us almost dead LOL. Btw we survived for as long as we did because we avoided the floor AOEs. The raid wides were what was whittling us down.
It may not be obvious but the floor AOE with the wind current is actually 2 mechanics. You need to be mindful of the direction the wind is blowing [b] the gap between 2 AOEs[b]. Basically the pattern shifts in that direction (their relative locations don't change) and you need to stay within the gap.

smileton, I'm on WAR, healer's a SCH, I forgot what the DPS were and... they don't heal me at all
I know WAR's self sustain is incredible, but if the pull takes ages because of lackluster DPS and me having to exhaust every self sustain plus two CDs in one pull, I do require a tiny crumb of healing because all my stuff is still on cooldown, y'know?
and it's not like they were spamming art of war, either, lmao

Anybody else find it adorable when first timer in dungeons starts to follow you around obediently like duckling? I certainly do.
As a WHM into Dead Ends Roulette.
First timer NIN and BRD loads in, with a rando WAR. Let's roll!
As expected, dozen of mistakes made but they learned, particularly the BRD. Wherever I slidecasted to, they would follow me faithfully (except personal markers). NIN seems to be struggling, and died a lot more than the BRD. Either way, it's fine.
Fast forward to last boss, NIN ate dozen of mech and died a total of 4 times, eventually chats: "Don't look at me xD Sorry & thanks for rezzes"
I choked on my drink. It's okay, NIN. You'll get used to it.

Late night leveling on Sage, Stone Vigil, 14 min off the clock already. Loading in, they're on 1st boss still.
"Oh no".
I understood then why. Constant spinning of the boss. No aoes from tank on packs. We wiped to mobs twice, dps died even more, cuz I can't heal em all while trying to stay alive myself.
Should've left when there were no answer from the tank after asking to use aoes. Closer to 3d boss they even turned off their stance. We cleared somehow.
Never. Again.
"The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater."
