Posting this here because I am curious if any of you have ever seen this before. I was running Tam Tara on my new bunny character and when we got to the last boss I watched the cutscene so it would skip in any future runs. The group however rushed in and started fighting. When my cutscene finished I went to join them and... only partially zoned into the arena. I got stuck IN the barrier and could not move into the arena or out of it. As a lancer I ended up throwing my lance anytime a mob was in range. I couldn't do anything else. I have never seen ANYONE get stuck like that before.

You found a bug, I would report it so they are aware.

I've not been stuck in the barrier, but I died just as I was crossing the line and it closed. Not sure if it was a boss mechanic or not that got me, as this was back sometime when I had first started, but I just remember it closing on me and I died.

Had an awkward moment in Puppet's Bunker.

After we killed the adds in bullet hell hallway, the way didn't open up. The entire raid had to kill themselves on the purple floor to reset the fight.

I've not been stuck in the barrier, but I died just as I was crossing the line and it closed. Not sure if it was a boss mechanic or not that got me, as this was back sometime when I had first started, but I just remember it closing on me and I died.

This apparently happened to two of my newcomer friend before in Toto-Rak (I have the post somewhere in this thread but it’s been like possibly a year since then)

Basically what happened was:
• Two of them watches the longa$$ boss cutscene right at the spot where the barrier would form.
• Random tank pulls anyway.
• When the barrier closes, the two were still in cutscene.
• Normally you’d get pushed in or out of the arena if you stood on that spot when the barrier closes the arena. But because their character are essentially ‘locked’ in CS, for whatever reason the game decided to ‘squish’ them to death.

Weird stuff, I’ve witnessed this not just once.

Believe it or not, no! However, to compensate, we had several near wipes in Mhach and several on A12N. So it all balances out.

Had something like that happen in LotA 2 weeks ago, but had to wait a while till the main corridor opened.

And later on we wipe to the 2nd 9s add phase bc the tanks didnt listen when we said to separate the adds and we hit an enrage (that I didn't even know existed)

Hahaha. I dont call those enrage but its a charge mechanic, and if they reach 100, you're in for a fun surprise. I've never seen 9S' 100 charge, but had the pleasure of seeing Engels.

Fyi: Any mechanic where the boss is not targettable and you see they have a charge bar that can reach 100, its a dps check/tank spread.

Finally got my WoL alt to Zodiark. First pull goes... okayish, though the two SGEs were struggling a bit. One was new to the fight, and we had another newbie too, so I didn't expect it to go super smoothly. Not sure how the two of them died after the 3-comet pattern part, but they did. RDM didn't get a raise off in time, and died to the stack, so we had to reset.

Someone immediately leaves once the fight's refreshed, and I jokingly go "Imagine leaving after one wipe". To which one of the SGEs makes the usual stupid "WoW bad FFXIV good" remark of "spot the WoW player, lol".

I point out that many XIV-exclusive players tend to leave after one wipe too, so it isn't solely a WoW mentality and people really, seriously need to let go of the assumption that all poor behavior can be attributed exclusively to former WoW players. Dude tries to backtrack as the pull starts, citing "well I'm from WoW, and it's definitely something that happened a lot there". I repeat: it happens for XIV often too, far before our massive WoW migration. They kind of sputter about a bit like "well every game has its weird player quirks, doesn't make them bad".

Me, internally: Then why make that stupid joke?

Begging people to let go of this stupid game tribalism mentality. It isn't funny, it isn't cute, and especially if you personally come from WoW, it makes you come off like you're trying to justify 'breaking up' with your old game. Let it go, man.

I'll admit i don't know a whole lot about the current state of balance these days but i am fairly certain that me as DNC should not be higher on the threat table than a SAM.

Leveling WHM on my second character to be more flexible going through Savage in PF (only had SGE leveled before). Got to the point of Aurum Vale, so a low level dungeon and I don't expect too much from the players there. Get 2 RPRs and a PLD, found out afterward that they were a premade (all from the same server at any rate). Run goes fine, PLD's a bit slow initially but I don't mind. Just before second boss he decides to pull over half the room but does so by using Shield Lob. Since I was running with him and had a pre-casted regen rolling, I got all the remaining threat and died just before my swiftcasted Holy stunned them. Results in an unfortunate wipe.

I tell him that he doesn't have to Shield Lob to pull but that a normal AoE works fine in as constructive a way as possible. The only response I get is a tripple dot from one of the RPRs. I ask the guy what's up with that and his reply is as follows, copied in all its broken English glory: "nothing is just... the duty fauna never cease to amazeme". I can only assume he's implying that he thinks I was being toxic.

This guy was a mentor. A crafting mentor, to be sure, which is the biggest type of meme player out there and I instantly assume their skill is lower than that of someone who's never actually played the game, but giving people tips is literally his self appointed job, yet he didn't do it, and considers someone else doing it toxic. They really need to start monitoring who they allow the mentor status.
