Set Number in big bold letters or audio while fighting

Okay, I've done this more times than I can remember. I'm sure you have as well especially if you use a gamepad like me.

You're in the middle of a fight and you have two sets. Primary and secondary. You swap between sets because you know you need to use X skill or spell and you think you swap back but then press the wrong button and then Cure III.

That's a whole lot of nothing happening! You were supposed to instantly raise something! What a shame... Well, now you wasted a lot of time and MP doing this stupid nonsense.

I would love it if there was a way to know which set you're on because as a healer at least, your eyes are everywhere. You're following people's health, their ailments, you make sure the tank doesn't have a certain grayscale icon *cough* and you have to monitor the fight for AOE's and other mechanics, things the enemy is casting AND if your dots are still up and how long before you can cast your next thing.

If that's not enough you have to keep your MP topped off at all times because who knows how many people will tank the floor when they're supposed to stack West instead of south and you're the only one West. *sigh*

    Well here's my proposal!

You get a Number, BIG AND BOLD

This number can be moved around and resized however you see fit. It can be placed in the middle of the screen so you can't possibly miss it unless you're an idiot like me. This number is which SET you're on. It can apply to any job.

Now, for those of you who would rather HEAR than SEE, I have a solution as well. Different set swapping sound effect.

A setting will allow you to fully customize the sound whenever you swap TO a set kinda like how the chat has channel sounds. Just pick a sound and There you go! Now if you swap to Set #2 and hear Bongo Drums, you know you're on set 2. If you swap back to set 1 and hear Soken screaming "La-hee" you know you're on the right set to cast that BLOOD LILY.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

you dont need to manually switch hotbars on controller. there is a setting that lets you access a different hotbar if you do L+R, and a different one with R+L. its a lot quicker and more comfortable
theres also the wxhb that lets you place yet another hotbar to access by pressing L or R twice in a row.

besides whats mentioned above, i like to use the 'tap r1 once" for switching between AoE and Single Target bars, which are nearly identical otherwise.

Yes but swapping in general is a pain to know which set you're on. I only use 2 sets, 3 if they keep adding new spells by level 7.0 which would be unplayable lol. Knowing which one you're on is not cut and dry when you're playing savage or ultimate and there's 300 things going on at once. Having the ability to place a label on the screen to let me know which set I'm on / an audio indicator would drastically help me and other people play. I could play with they kb/m yes, but I don't want to. I swap with L or R but usually R between the sets. Anyone who uses more that 2 sets in battle is insane lol

i dont really get your point. i use 3 whole hotbars in battle on controller because i can access 3 without swapping sets thanks to the functions i mentioned.

I'm simply asking for a feature that tells me which set I am on so I can have one less thing to worry about in the middle of a battle. You can have 12 sets, I don't really care. What works for you may not work for me and vice versa.

It is not movable or particularly huge, but the crossbar already shows which set you are. It is located at the bottom and in the centre of your action icons.

Yep. And that's what's annoying. It's impossible to notice especially with a 4k display. 4K needs some love too :P

You can have the extended crossbar automatically swap back to your primary hotbar when you release the buttons. So you can hold L2+R2 to access another bar, use your ability and let go of the triggers to snap back to your main bar. The only thing you have to remember is what's assigned to L2 and what's assigned to R2. It's very intuitive.

Alternatively, you can also set up hotbars that are active when you double tap a trigger. You can make this always visible if you want as well.
