Seriously was the Inner beast stuff ever given any actual explanation? Because Dynamis fits it way better then anything else, that shit always felt so random in the wider context of the world at large.

No, not really. I mean it fits perfectly into that slot now, but it didn't have--nor in some eyes needed--a greater explanation.

Warrior's whole vibe is borrowing a lot from berserkers and barbarians, and they usually have an 'animalistic urge' thing going on. Frankly most of their explanations are either nonexistent or don't hold up either, but a lot of them go for the general gist of 'humans have beastly and animalistic urges that we naturally suppress, but we can become Like Beast if need be'.
