Why is everyone so silent in the game?

Got banned for I believe 25 days for singing/typing wade in the water in the firmament gathering instance since it was so drab and quiet, and got reported by people who never said a single thing until I typed. Keep my talking limited to hi/thank you/word/do you wanna join lalafell discord/ and fc. Then banned for 2-3 days from the forum for saying I avoid (Letters) group. No swearing at all or directed at specific person but hit just as hard.

You avoid what now? Are you censoring yourself? If you're shouting in public channels about how you avoid certain groups of people, this is entirely working as intended.

If that's not what that means, I apologize - but that's pretty much the only thing to be gleamed from the way it was written.

Well specifically it was about an fc with letters as its tag I was referring to and it was in forum, and rather censoring more just talking a lot less than I probably would since I usually like to say hello to random people. I like to follow the "A stranger is just a person you haven't met yet" usually. The ban was just a wake up call to the people that lurk in the grass waiting for the smallest offense.

This. And people don't listen 99% of the time anyways, so why waste energy on that?

The emoting system and the auto-translate system is something that is very ingrained into the FF11/FF14 culture. Also i believe Discord plays a big part into this as well; our FC pretty much just stick to either typing in Discord, or voice-chatting.

People talk in Limsa all the time. Although the ones who talk in Say arent usually the ones I end up befriending. It's the ones who send a Tell for whatever reason, whether it be a comment about glams or my name or whatever else. Uh.

I don't blame people for being quiet at all because you really can get banned for saying just about anything. You have to really watch your tone and language. A few are in here keep going, "WELL!!!!! JUST DONT BE A BIGOT!!!" sweeties, it's not always that. Sometimes people slip a curse word. Which you would think "well, dont people who dislike curse words have the curse word filter on?" The curse word filter is turned on by default when you start the game. These people turn it off, knowingly. And then they proceed to absolutely report you for cursing anyway, do not try them. Do not curse in the open. Not even a "Seven hells", I know your favs say it in the story but you catch someone on bad day and you'll be right there in the Gaol accepting your vacation time. I've had friends catch a ban for playfully bantering with one another. Don't say stupid, don't-just don't. Keep it Disney in the Say chat. Even in FC chats sometimes. People will absolutely join an FC and then proceed to be the PC police and report some of you-ohhh I've seen someone join and report the FC for their FC slogan which was an inside joke to a friend.

I say all that to say. You gotta watch it.
If you can keep it bright and cheery then yeh talking in the open is no sweat. But if you play around too much or anything like that, it's best kept to cwls/fc. The majority of talking usually happens in those for sure. Once you're in a friend group cwls, no one shuts up tbh. Can hardly ever keep up with the chatting in those.

so far from what I've seen in the thread, there's a consensus that there are some serious issues with people either getting easily offended or wanting to be speech police. I don't know how true this is, as i've never been banned despite several attempts to get people talking, but if this is the case, I am very shocked.
