Healers (esp. pure) may keep their fast queues after all

It's interesting how things turned out.

I went through EW first on the US server, and all the leveling dungeon, my tank had instant queues. After that, I did all the EW end-game content, healers were never in short supply. With Panda raids in the duty finder, even now, tanks have near instant queues.

Adv in Need is usually for a tank for most duties (except Alliance Raids).

On resuming my JP char, I find it is even more tank-drought than ever. No shortage of healers.

Experience would conclude that there is an abundance of healer players, and it does not chime with the negativity of these forums.

Even though they are not Adv in Need anytime I queue for something as a healer its always instant, or just a few minutes while the server figures out how to place me in the queue. In an expansion that introduced a new healer you would think you're queue time would be much longer than that since people will be levelling or enjoying the new class with all its bells and whistles.

It seems to vary quite wildly tbh, so much so that the only conclusion I can draw is that the role in need thing shown in DF isn't really a good gauge of much at all.

Tanks dominate the role in need on Chaos whenever I look as well. However queueing as healer solo for most roulettes will get an insta pop for me at primetime in the early evening which is a bit of a mixed message to say the least. I assume this is just some quirk in how the role in need is calculated given that tanks legitimately were always the role in dire need for years.

Where it mixes up for me currently is in the Normal mode raids, queuing solo as healer is fast but not instant leading me to believe that tanks are still in short supply here.

PFs appear to be a similar story with Tanks tending to be the last to fill on average, although again, that's just my own observations.

Yeah, a lot people have observed this even before the expansion. Tank displayed as in need, but tank queue is not instant while healer queue is. Explanations people give that it takes time to switch over seems to fall a bit flat when this happens so much, as does saying that what low level duties may have different in-needs than high level ones when considering expert roulette...

The inner workings of the in-need bonus system are quite mysterious.

But I've also noticed that here too. It started out with healers being last to fill a few weeks ago; now it's tanks again. Very curious that something either cause tank population to fall off a bit, or for the healer population to rise...

...or perhaps it's that the early players have finished and are just waiting for savage, while different demographics are now doing them..?

You might be on to something. Healer is very much a yolo role for PFing Ex and Savage. No rotation, reactive playstyle and freestyle healing works (no matter how inefficient), very few (if any) healer specific mechanics which generally consist of "stack with you healers, boys!".
And people know it, including more casual players.
Tank, on the other hand, is still often seen as the difficult and high responsibility role by casual players.
So I wouldn't be surprised if now that more casual players hopped into ex while the midcore to hardcore crowd has already finished farming it to death is so intimidated by tanking a fresh Ex that these slots fill last.
It's the same on Light: at first it was healers, now tanks are in higher demand for both Ex.
Which is funny because you can't even position ZEx in any way. It's literally just "put on stance, do your rota and mitigate occasionally".

Healer queues have become instant over here unlike previously. Mostly Role in Need still shows Tanks but queues aren't instant for the Tanks in question.

Leveling tank to 90 right now I noticed most of my healers are from duty roulette. I sometimes have to wait 5+ min for a dungeon healer.

On Light I'm seeing healer in need for quite a few roulettes, even leveling, during prime time rather often. Even without them displaying as in need the queues are basically always instant.

With this happening less than a month after release it's safe to say that healer in need will only continue to become more prominent as more people finally move on from their SGE honeymoon phase.
