Yeah? I'm certainly lacking more empathy than other people. That doesn't mean I would take a life as if it were nothing or a joyous thing. At least we kill them to get something in return and not because we have a God complex. Anyways, the comparison makes no sense because they were supposed to be a thousand times better than "us" imperfect beings. They were on a whole different level. And in spite of that, we have proved to be a lot more empathetic than them, especially when things go south and that can be seen in the same EW MSQ and when we do the role quests, when we try to save all kinds of people irregardless of their situation

God complex?? They're literally gods but with beurocracy. Even the short story confirms as much ("the time where men and gods are the same"). They have responsibilities to make sure the environment is in balance. The research on elpis and ktisis show us how they are not unlike earth natural evolution given form.

Natural selection makes sure extreme abnormalities can't thrive, and will get wiped out sooner or later. That's the same with how they handle the "flawed" concept. They see it being detrimental to the environment, thus not fit to be released to the star. They don't genocide an entire species jus for "God complex". And also they always see creatures blesses with soul as "a gift from this star".

Do I think they appear to be "uncaring" towards the concepts? A little bit, if I'm going to be honest actually. However, we also should remember they have been living with entirely different morality than us, and it's not a bad thing either. They can see souls, reincarnation is a proven thing, they're immortals; so of course their way of living is different.

Moreover, if you do the sidequests on elpis, you will see that hermes isn't alone in feeling sad over flawed concepts. There's also Ancients, albeit minority, who prefer earth natural evolution to make new species (by cross breeding plants). Hermes just decided he's all alone because he never bother to seek out other people, learn about them.

Dam people you take to much from this poorly written story. It's clear yoshi farced this to be finished in 6.0 and it's shows. How much was in no way logically finished. How much was out of nowhere? Hermis was the most stupid out there. We never see or hear of any thing so bad he will go so mad from. There nothing like just show it. The final massage of "perfection is bad" was stupid as well.

Lol of course not. Hasn't been a thing since SB I think. In fact, iirc after thancred "sacrifice" in ultima Thule, y'sthola said "my eyesight is restored to some degree". But I might be wrong/misinterpret her though, best if someone else could check it out.

i am done editing this thread, i've concluded that people are just mad i'm critiquing their favorite games' story. i started in 2019, and square had a great thing rolling with shadowbringers but they just dropped the ball. im probably gonna end up quitting.

Nah, that was started by Hermes when he created Meteion. The Final Days began with one man, basically, but the end result was an ancient civilization causing its own destruction. Because they couldn't be content with what they had (the good and the bad) and had to keep pushing their boundaries. And that is how most of, if not all of the stars Meteion's collective visited ended. Her character seemingly came out of nowhere, but she was still a product of the Ancients and their endless creativity. So it made sense story wise. I kinda figured they doomed themselves well before we met Meteion.

It was arguably Hermes and Venat who led the Ancients towards destruction rather than Ancients themselves.

The Sundered world would have been destroyed many times over if not for the aid provided by Unsundered beings, so one can only begin to imagine what would have been accomplished if the Ancients weren't dealing with deluded, subversive elements operating within their midst.

Honestly it's easily the worst FFXIV expansion to me. It has a laundry list of issues from pacing to bathos to being anticlimactic. It's crazy to me to see people treating it like it was a gift from god.

Yeah, I've heard people say Stormblood was the worst, but honestly Stormblood didn't make me question the story as much as Endwalker did.

Introducing new characters is not filler.
However having a 5 quest sequence after that is padding because ultimately characters like fisherman elephant don’t affect the storyline .
Also you did not sit in my gaming room and have proof that I wasn’t paying attention . I definitely was watching the story . But, stay mad I guess.
