I mean yeah Savage and Extremes should be '' Dark Souls ''.

Dark Souls isn't actually difficult, it's just punishing and fair ( with some rare exceptions that could be considered buggy ).
It's also the design intent as stated by the game director himself, the whole '' prepare to die '' nonsense was something Fromsoft started pushing as a marketing gimmick but the devs never really intended the game franchise to get that reputation or for it to be used as a marketing gimmick.

The Souls games are punishing if you screw up, most games aren't and give you a billion chances before you fail.
That's what makes them enjoyable because they're fair yet punishing if you fail the fault is with you but it also makes success more impactful and rewarding.
I am not some ultra hardcore gamer or whatever and I can sprint through every Souls game with ease because I've put the work in and learned, once you figure things out and get a bit of practice in it's not actually difficult at all.

The problem is that most games and gamers nowadays are so used to everything being on ultra easy mode that when they're faced with a challenge they just collapse and get mad and stop trying.
Generally speaking the average joe doesn't like challenge.
It's the same reason why fighting games are such a niche because most people don't want to put the work in to be at least somewhat decent, they don't want to hop online and actually have to repeatedly fail and learn to get it.
But there's still a ton of people who do enjoy it a lot which is why there's a market for it, same with Souls games.
And same with Savage and Extremes.
