
How would any of you fix it then? Should SE bring back any of those old skills? Genuinely curious.I mean thats one of the biggest issues with DRK right now. No identity, just a bunch of random unconnected ogcds, and Endwalker doubled down on this.
Its gotten to the point where Carve and Spit giving 600 mp feels like a mistake rather than a useful feature of the ability.



With the exception of something like plunge, make them all give a resource?
Maybe make Bloodspiller/Quietus into another healing move
Make Shadowbringer give blood
Maybe some enhanced resource generation while inside of Salted Earth?
Oblation or Darkmind should just be the return of something like blood price, take damage to gain resource, which is honestly the only remaining identity Dark Knight currently has, carried solely by TBN.
Just random spitball ideas here, but anything would be better than Dark Knight having so many weird ogcds that don't really do anything other than damage. Its kinda sad we've gotten to the point where DRK has so many ogcds that it managed to get top DPS while feeling so jank.
SE won't do this anymore, not ever again.
Examples > Low Blow, Shield Swipe, Blood Price, getting more DPS taking damage, losing DPS if the job isn't main tanking, it only encourages comps to soak more damage they should be avoiding to get more DPS.

You guys do realize you can put this on other people right? And if that's such a hassle, what about DRG's Dragon Sight? Don't get me wrong, it IS a DPS loss if you don't defend properly. But TBH, tanks need to be better rewarded for defending. There needs to be more incentives to actually use our CDs, rather than just being a scuffed DPS. Say if Oblation restored MP when hit, just slap it on the current MT and there you go, DPS gain with no need for you to take aggro. The problem with Shield Swipe was you couldn't put Sheltron on other tanks. Oblation and TBN (which functions the exact same as old Sheltron, just harder to proc) can be put on other tanks.

In cases yes, but it can be shared than self only, Blood Price, Low Blow, Shield Swipe is self only.

Low Blow: Self only > Refreshes when Dark Knight parries.
Blood Price: Self only > Gets more MP taking any source of damage.
Shield Swipe: Self only > Gets more DPS shield blocking attacks.
TBN/Oblation can be shared, these three ^ cannot, you see where I am driving at? "Sharing buffs with team mates and/or self for more DPS is fine", getting more DPS that can only activate by taking damage and only can be used on yourself is not ok. It forces a drive to exploit.

I stated that already though, and that's why I think that it would be cool if we got more "parry" abilities for tanks that reward us for defending others as well. I see a lot of people saying skills like TBN should be reworked/removed cause it rewards a DPS gain for main tanking, even tho that's not the case at all.
If only Sheltron in the past could be shared. Also, I reread my post and it wasn't obvious that I was stating that Sheltron couldn't be shared. Sorry about that.
TBN if reworked to not punish (Grants Dark Arts, by the buff timer running out, and/or shield break) and rewarding DPS is fine, that's not a problem at all, can be shared. I am only against self only abilities and rewarding DPS gains for it. We have Intervention anyway, it has the same additions Sheltron received, extra 10% if Rampart, or Sentinel is active, can only be used on team mates, not self. It's pretty fair.

I came in on ShB so I know nothing about HW dark knight. But to deal with current issues I would do the following:
Blood Weapon: 15 second duration; 25 second cooldown 2 charges. Apply a 400 potency heal for EoS combo (see below) This should replace enhanced unmend.
Oblation should be 20% mitigation that restores 1000 Mana at each use on a 30 second cooldown.
Combine salted earth and Abyssal drain into one move and give a dot that generates 50-75 potency HOT over the duration with the same 300 potency heal per enemy. Increase the potency and remove Salt and Darkness.
Make stalwart soul earlier in level progression.
EoS and FoS combo: a three part combo that is active under blood weapon (where the healing comes from) this will cost 3000 Mana total (1200 since under blood weapon) ending in Shadowbringer. Full damage potency is 1800 (600 per attack). Can be used twice during blood weapon duration.
Living dead: when under walking dead, add an effect that allows all attacks to grant 400 potency healing and increases all healing applied to you by 30%. Hp requirement remains unchanged. Less tax on barrier healers and can be done by yourself under blood weapon.
Dark mind should affect all damage types and grant a bonus to Mana regeneration.
Finally TBN: shield is still 25% hp but reduce incoming damage by 15%, and allows free use of EoS combo.
Delirium and Carve and Spit can stay the same except Carve does not share a recast time with anything.
I know some of this can be broken but with fine tuning a balance can be reached. These are suggestions to help my favorite job in the game I really want to play it more but it feels bad to play.
