All those people in that small space would cause it to come crashing down. Putting the market board and scrip/collectible vendors in different cities spreads out the player base which helps prevent instance servers from crashing or there being ridiculous lag. Think about how hard it was to target quest NPCs early on. Would you really want that to be a 24/7/365 problem with market boards, retainer bells, and the scrip/collectible NPCs?

As much of an annoyance as it is to have to teleport back and forth, I'd much rather have that than unstable and massively overcrowded "Ideal Zone" instances. Here's a tip that's helped me be efficient with my time and money in Endwalker: set your Return for Sharalayan and use the free Confluence port to Ilsabard then use the cheap teleport to Radz. It's an extra step and additional short loading screen, but it's a lot cheaper; especially if you stock up in Sharlayan then craft for 30 minutes in Radz before going back.
Other ppl don't use the target NPC and interact button? I had no issues in humongous crowd.
