Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

They went for the easiest route just letting ears clip through. I'm fine with it to be honest, is not that glaring of bad. At least is better than not having them at all.

However it irks me that there are a TON of old headgear like bandanas, turbans, the calfskin cap, some simpler hats that could have the ears just clip through without issue at all, and would look better than those hats.

It is because those hats replace the hair. That is why they work. And also look bad. The turbans and bandanas would force SE to make viera hat hair, and they have no interest in that.

I'm just trying to stop using fantasias altogether. All it is doing is rewarding SE for keeping viera as limited as they are. I had meant to stop around the start of ShB, but I got annoyed with the viera limitations, and since then I have spent hundreds in fantasias just going back and forth off them. There is no incentive for SE to really fix the issues (quickly at least), if they are getting more money not too - this includes hrothgar.

The clipping for au ra is mostly just bad if you like wearing helmets, but I'd say they are better than miqo'te even when it comes to hats. The simple fact that they aren't limited has been the deciding factor for me playing them over viera in the past. The big issue with viera and the headgear that works, is probably the big, puffy, styles, so the headgear will either float, or clip with many alternative styles. Unfortunately, they have so few hair options, that it can be difficult to find something that works with those headpieces. I do hope viera will be updated more frequently over time, new hairstyles are a must for this race.

I had two fantasias left from last time I bought a bunch when I was happily trying out new things. But I agree. I don't want to buy more fantasias since the money for them obviously arent going into making viera be on par with the other races (not to mention Hrothgars).

Oh I see... I forgot that they would need the "hat friendly" version of the hair underneath, which one would suspect they didn't make, at least for the unique base hairstyles.

At least you won't have to spend even more over this issue then. I do wonder what that money is going into, because, yeah, it's definitely not this. If it takes them until the very end of ShB to even consider adding hair for viera. Pretty much the whole concept of them making a limited race, having a severe issue like with hrothgar, and taking this long to even do something about it is too much. Who knows if the thing with hrothgar will even be fixed. New hairs could just mean more things they have to fantasia to use!

Im not expecting anything. Alot of things have been underwhelming so far in terms of aesthetics. The ribbon that you need 800gems for are undyable and floats, the crafted red one as well, the sharlayan hairwreath isnt dyable either and costs 800 gems, the hairstyles they gave to viera look mostly terrible and hrothgar got no updates in that department (will they even get it?), alot of gear from the last expansion was reused and not even shifted around amongst the jobs which means we barely got any new gear to play around with glamourwise.

I don't get why they don't just give viera all(or atleast the most) of the hairstyles you can unlock and use for other races. I mean sure they have the bunny ears(then again Mi'qote have cat-ears, and they still can use all hairstyles) but it's not THAT hard to re-adjust the hairstyles so that they work for viera. It take some effort sure but why not release a couple of them each patch? Or work on them during a long period of time and release them all in bulk? It's been a long time since shadowbringers released. They have had plenty of time to fix it if they truly wanted to. Finally giving us like 5 of them is just not enough.

Apart from getting used to a different race with different animations, the sprint animation looks fine to me.

It's based off of the hyur run, which admittedly does have a weird outward throwing of the knee joints.
But, being a former Elezen, there is nothing worse than the Elezen run. Or for that matter the female Hyur run so I'll take it lol.
