This has actually been happening to a bunch of us on Primal, so you're not alone.

You'll see the entire game suddenly seem to 'freeze'... but you don't pokeball, because your connection isn't actually frozen. In fact, if you do things (like attacking) anyone not frozen will still see you take those actions -- and anything you type in the chatbox will still show up for others. You just aren't receiving anything from the server for a bit, and then suddenly it catches up.

It happened to me during normal raid roulette last night (just once, thankfully), and a couple of nights ago during one of the extremes. I also had a healer suffer from that during expert roulette.

It also seems specific to a given instance; the extreme fight, we were teaching a couple people the fight, so we were in there a little while, and I kept freezing up. As soon as we cleared and left/came back into the instance, no more freezing.

I strongly suspect that a couple of the Primal instance servers are not entirely healthy at the moment,

I have had it a few other times, and a couple weeks ago I ended up DCing completely due to it during the last boss of a dungeon (the day I couldn't get back in during the afternoon). It has seemed increasingly more common, for sure. I just wish it wouldn't happen during extremes and the like.

I remember a couple instances of some smarmy commentary when I had glam'd the 2B set on my catboy DRK for a bit (mostly as a joke since I literally won the coffer on his first run of Copied Factory upon hitting level 80).

I tend to roll my eyes when some of my friends make jokes or stupid commentary about a 'generic' catgirl glam for X or Y class, too. Who cares, man. Most everyone's wearing it because it looks good. Such is the way things go when many people share the same aesthetics or enjoy the same glamour pieces.

That said re: my 2B-glam'd catboy, I once got into a Cosmos run where one of my DPS - upon us loading in and me sprinting off for the w2w instantly- said "I respect the drip lol". That was worth more to me than a couple stupid comments from weird dudes feeling emasculated because my catboy pulls off a dress better than their min-height Au Ra girl did. :P

Pretty much. I do think many people's glams don't look very good or are generic, a lot of them probably think the same of mine (actually a lot of them do, with some of my casual glams), but I'm not going around telling people their glams suck or whatever, and I will compliment people if I do like a glam or think it's unique/well put together. Not that I have ever really personally seen anyone insult someone else in a dungeon over their outfits or whatever.

How come people seem to NEVER move the crossbars from the middle of the screen? Like do people know you can actually move all of the UI? And who keeps jump on triangle? All of these nongamer things I keep seeing in videos and whatnot is like " BRUH... " I ask this because a friend got a PS5 the other day and was asking me to help them set up their controls. I got .... I'mma just provide pictures.

Please. If you are working from home and logged into the game, do not queue into Pandaemonium #3 and then proceed to spend the majority of the time on the ground. Helping a friend get their weekly drop, and we had a DNC that was apparently working while also helping the SAM get their drop. They died 30 seconds in, and my co-healer raised them while I raised their friend. And they stayed on the ground long enough for the Raise to expire. When the WHM Raised them again, I asked if they were going to get up or not. Sorry, but nothing tilts me more than when a person lets a Raise expire (without a decent reason like lagging out or something).

After we finished the fight, they said “lol sorry, distracted. Also working from home while doing this.” I replied with perhaps they should just focus on work instead of subjecting a party of randoms to basically carry them, because they died at least 5 times that run. Their response was “I’m helping out a friend” and then immediately left.

If you are dead on the floor for the majority of a fight, you aren’t helping anyone.

There is zero advantage of remapping the jump button because there is no real(tm) content that requires it.

You could break cast once you see a rez icon and go about healing or dpsing. Just a thought.

I’d certainly do that whenever I could. It’s just a personal annoyance I had to spend at least 5s doing nothing (because casting then cancelling) when that other dps could spend those 5s dpsing instead. Of course I had to cancel it when I could vs wasting 2.4k MP.

My job icon is green. I’ll gladly trade 3-4 of my damage GCDs for any other heathy red job’s.

Anyway, getting back on topic…
MSR: Praetorium from last night.

I got accused of doing the cutscene cheese when in fact I had JP VA setting on (It finishes their voiced CS sooner than other language) after dealing with Gaius first encounter. I explained to them how & why, then 4 other decides to test it themselves and be like ”Lool it actually works!”.

The last 3 then switches to JP VA to on Lahabread’s monologue. Funnily enough this run warrants me 5 comms.

you are not alone, this infuriates me so much. I did a trial roulette on my AST a few days ago and got Hades. I barely remembered the fight at this point but I figured it would come back to me as we go. Very early into phase 1, my co-healer starts tanking the floor and I promptly insta-rez. They didn't take it, and it was then I realized they had been AFK since the beginning. Not a single spell cast, they just zoned in and went for a snack or something to get carried by the rest of us suckers. They never DC'ed, just straight up AFK. And they had the nerve to queue as a healer for the near instant pop too. How self-important can you get?... -.-

We also had a Summoner in Pandaemonium 4 just randomly go AFK throughout the fight and obviously dying repeatedly while taking forever to accept the rez. Makes you lose faith in humanity sometimes.

Oh, and on the topic of random AFKs, what's with people going AFK in the middle of dungeon to 'get a drink' or 'grab some snacks'? The runs lasts 15-20 mins, can you not wait that long without dying of hunger/thirst? And it's always a tank or healer, too, therefore essentially trapping the rest of us while fix themselves a glass of wine and crackers. JUST FINISH THE DUNGEON!

This week's minor horror story was in the current Expert roulette, in which the healer had to explain to the tank that they needed to use AOE after pulls, not just single target the pull, because the greedy SMN (me) kept pulling aggro and dying after any given double pack

I would be more inclined to accept this as inevitable if we had gotten a new tank this expansion..... so all I can do is assume they level skipped, story skipped, and did trusts up until that point, and never saw the issue before.

I mean, technically I could. It was around the time when the queue was tame, about 1-50 players. I played during the 'cursed hour'.

Not worthy of the trouble + I heard that could get you into trouble, too.

That kind of thing really sucks when you're a healer.

Leveling roulette is often a 2 tank affair.

Main tank is the Scholar or White Mage.

Off tank is the Marauder or Gladiator.


Because that's certainly what every pull other than the boss fights thinks. When I get some of those ARR levelings in particular with newer players, I just accept that if I'm on a healer, I'm the actual tank... Fortunately those things are tuned to make that viable.

Though I have seen this happen with people who've played long enough to even have unlocked Gunbreaker, it's pretty much 'normal' for people still below 30 on their first job.

When it happens in an expert dungeon though - that's just frustrating.
