The reputation in EW only worked in Garlemald where it was simply "ono, the hero of savages".

As for the 7.0 areas, I'm not going to forget "The final chapter of this star" and was initially thinking the WoL would visit and save other stars.
I won't even try to hide my huge bias for the Omicrons, they colonized many planets. One of their colony as a star to save would be amazing to me.

All areas mentioned on Aetherys could be side content. After all, Emet mentioned the secrets behind the twelve and we're going to have a 24 man raid about that.
Exactly, you're probably the most known person in Eorzea and surroundings if you stack the reputation the WoL has been building up ever since ARR. I would think it would be kind of unrealistic to think that such a reputation would not spread even to some degree into the New World or Meracydia (if there's even something there to begin with).

The best way to weave in a whole new story arc is to explore another shard, especially because the Scions can't really travel through them at will, so you would have to get to know a new cast of characters. I totally trust the writers into delivering good stuff in that regard. Or heck, I wouldn't even mind if Gaia would be one of those - they would have to make Eden series completion mandatory, but hey they did that with Crystal tower anyways.

And still, this would make the unexplored areas from the Source into side content, and even having the Scions to be featured there, since they are no longer officially franchised.
