Instead of remaking it, I think the story of 1.0 would work better as a special anime arc comprising of a few episodes to the introduction of the WoL to the Calamity.
I know SE has Animation Talent, they proven it with Brotherhood.

There is no good time and never will be. They are not going to recreate 1.0 Coerthas. They are not going to re-mocap the Y'shtola/pirate fight. Let it go.
MSQ is done for 6.0, but patches (6.01-6.55) still require work. There are several major in-game Systems that have been announced that won't even begin to see release until patch 6.1.
Work has already begun on the next expansion. Expansions don't get written in the 6 months before their release after all.
There is no 'play time' available to work on something else, especially something like a 'nostalgic trip down memory lane' for anything related to the major disaster that was 1.0. You want to know what it was like? Want to experience every cutscene?
Go to Youtube and enter "FFXIV 1.0 story" into the search bar. You'll find 7 hours worth of cutscenes, you'll find a 3 part documentary about how 1.0 came about as well as why it died, you'll find some enlightening videos from Speakers Network showing off a number of 1.0 features, you'll find a retrospective from Ethys Asher ... there are any number of videos out there that will give you an idea of how things were during those 2 years.
And SE doesn't have to waste any resources on recreating a game that worked on an entirely different graphics engine with an entirely different battle system.
Or a single-player game with option to play with 2~7 friends (p2p) co-op. As a non MMO experience there wouldn't be the same huge concern over homogenizing jobs or worry too much about 'broken builds' so the original job system could still work. How about a Final Fantasy 1.0 OFFLINE version?.
I would love to play the original game but understand is not feasible to bring it back "online", however, a normal offline Final Fantasy version of 1.0 could be done, of course it would have to be adjusted for a single player experience which might be difficult but if they decided to, it might produce SE more money from the depths of hell where the game must be now.
Hmm. Probably not the best idea to offer any of those items again. Were you around when they put the White Raven earrings as a Rising event reward? The forums exploded with the outrage.I dig the idea. Would be doubly-awesome if playing through its entirety could award you the "Legacy" mark, chocobo, and old goobbue mount. I mention these, specifically because most "retired" items often make their way back into the game periodically, and it seems like it could be kind of fitting to do so there.
Regardless, it would also be cool, getting a better sense of context for the events preceding ARR. Which characters we should know, better understanding of the characters and their motivations, etc.
That said—I’ve always wanted to play 1.0 as it was. Horrible systems and all. A friend from college actually gave me the collectors edition. But I never had a PC strong enough to run it, so it has been a mystery to me. I’d be all for a “1.0 Classic” server or even a working private server. But I’m not foolish enough to hold my breath for it. 1.0 is a thing SE wants to bury and keep buried. Considering it almost destroyed the company and the Final Fantasy brand.

I'm sure PvPers would be upset if their exclusive season items (that are long unavailable) were handed out in a simple event of no effort. Same with ultimate totemsHmm. It's a matter of perspective.

This is something I'll never understand. It's such a gross leftover boomer mentality to want to hoard digital items from other players because it makes someone feel important to have things other people don't.
It wasn’t my mentality. I didn’t have an opinion on it, to be honest. Just saying if you want to see the Forums burn, then sure. Offer them again.
I own a lot of exclusive minions from the art books and OSTs, and I’ve always been of the mind that they should have never been timed exclusives. I don’t care if others bought them tomorrow and got codes for them. Doesn’t impact me in any way.

I'm not sure what "boomer" has to do with anything here. Pretty sure the mentality of exclusivity has been a thing since...well, forever for the human race.
They are digital items which no one cares about WHY you have them, just that you do. No one will say "Oh look, he has a tattoo, he is some legendary player".
