I found that if I log in again right away, it saves my position. Not sure what the actual time is.

Are we talking about the same thing? When I receive a 2002 error it completely shuts down everything and I have to restar from scratch. I have never had an occasion where I have relog immediately after a 2002 error and gotten my place back.
You have to babysit the queue and if you get the error, log right back in immediately after disconnect. Otherwise the queue thinks you've forfeited your place in the queue. The queue refreshes as it lets the next 100 players in. You want to beat that refresh. It takes me at least 1 minute to initiate the launcher, enter the log in info, have it accepted and hit play. The I have to wait for the intro screen to appear so I can enter the character select screen and select my character for log in and this is if everything goes smoothly. You can do it in 15 seconds. Tell me your secret.

I know how the system is supposed to work. I have a Fire Tablet where I binge watch videos while waiting for the que to progress. I have said it before and I will say it again. Despite all that I do not get may place in line back. Log in process is too slow. SE needs to find a way to prevent the systems from shutting down after one of these errors. BTW another 2002. Screw this going to take a nap and try later.

I've saved my place plenty of times. If you're still getting 2002 errors, while the game is open you can also open the launcher. Drop your password and 2fa into the fields (if you have a 2fa, if you don't you really should have one), and let it sit on the screen with the big green PLAY button. If you get a 2002, you can let the game close, immediately hit play, and the game reopens and saves you a ton of time. Rinse and repeat as needed. The only time this won't really work is if you can't even get into your DC, but otherwise it makes getting yourself back into queue much easier and faster. It takes me at least 1 minute to initiate the launcher, enter the log in info, have it accepted and hit play. Sorry I had to. Anyway good idea while I've never had the 2002 while in queue issue that is a superb work around. I was always getting it before the queue so I never lost my place because I didn't have one.
Seriously you deserve all the likes.

While I don't DOUBT your problems or your frustration... it's not impossible to get back in and get your place in queue back. Though it may hinge on your hardware being able to load the game fast enough. I've been 2002'd a few times and always got my queue place back, but I also have a likely "high spec" setup.I know how the system is supposed to work. I have a Fire Tablet where I binge watch videos while waiting for the que to progress. I have said it before and I will say it again. Despite all that I do not get may place in line back. WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Yes I am sure they decided to make a detailed post about issues and their resolutions so they could lie to you.You have told us that the log-in server will hold your place for about 10-15 minutes. WRONG! I have been trying to log-in since 1400 and twice I have gone from 4739 in que to 1097. Each time I received a 2002 error and was disconnected. I completed the sign in process within 5 minutes and had to start over at 4700. I am on my 3rd attempt and back in que at 4798. 5 hours wasted and at least another 3 hours to go provided I don't 2002 again. This has been a nightly occurrence since Endwalker Early Access. Also please stop spreading the false claim that packet drops from the players ISP are responsible. That is bogus and you know it. I have been a continuous subscriber since Early Access ver 1.0 (the only one that went smoothly for me) so I feel that I have earned the right to vent when I feel that smoke is being blown.
While writing this post I got another 2002. Starting over for the 4th time

I got my place in queue back last time I got hit with a full queue after a server disconnect. I was at 3000, got 2002'd at 447 in line, and then got back in my place in queue right away. Whew.
But I also have a high spec setup, and I was playing Pokemon Go on my phone when I disconnected, so I was right there to fix it.
I don't doubt if you're away from your computer or PS4 when you get the bug, and you come back after a few minutes, your place could be gone.
