Why not gambler? although paper cuts don't really bleed, they hurt worse than a lot of other injuries.

Their core mechanic could be a basic combo that changes the effect of the finisher, or the finisher procs an ability. One could be a 15 sec weaker DoT, another big burst damage, and lastly a 15 strong DoT just to give an example.

Naturally there would be an ability you could use to proc all abilities but only get one use between them all.

Bard should have one more DoT. It is a ticking-class anyway (DoT ticks, song ticks).

Maybe have a song that either spreads its single target DoTs to all nearby enemies or a song that causes group wide DoT damage.

That's a great idea. As another person pointed out on the previous page, it would line up with Scholar very well considering it's the job class that focuses lore wise on strategies and battle tactics.

    Here be da post:

The Archetype of the Tactician - Strategist fits perfectly with the method of Damage over Time. Scholar should have 2 single target DoTs and 2 Area of Effect DoT AND buff-enfeeblement.
Not to mention their summon, which should be already something alike Titania should not only heal-link, but to actually attack and leave damage over time puddles near the enemies.

Yeah, the class is right there in game already.

Either slap it on an eventually Chemist(either as a DPS or as everyone prefers, a Healer), or Necromancer.

Otherwise I wouldn't mind a completely original class, it would allow SE more freedom of ideas.

Since Yoshi-P and his devs like to take inspiration from other games for their Jobs (DRK = WoW Death Knight, Reaper = Bloodborne Hunters) maybe we should be looking at what games some of them personally like to play.

Hopefully one of them is a fan of Castlevania. I need a whip wielding voidsent exorcising job class! And if it had to be a DoT type class, it could use talismans of some sort to place DoTs on enemies and provide increase stack damage to those DoTs with every attack provided by the whip! I wanna be a Belmont whip wielding job in this game so bad!

Well, here is the list of Final Fantasy Tactics jobs that haven't yet made it in:

    Squire
    Chemist
    Mime
    Orator
    Geomancer
    Calculator
    Time Mage

I think out of those, the following could have a future as a DOT specialist:

    Time Mage
    Geomancer
    Chemist

I believe Time Mage's main hope of existing as it's own dedicated job would be through a DoT job. You could very well design time / stacks be added to and subtracted to buffs and debuffs (DoTs) as part of the actual rotation of the job itself. Like it might read lasts 5 seconds, but it is expected to last 15 if you did your job right. Something like that. The expectation of manipulation being what the job is balanced around and it doesn't touch other job's dots and such, just it own stuff. Any time inspired buffs would be designed not to mess up the whole windows of damage.

Like instead of haste it might be Time Echo (better name plz lol), which causes the target's potency based effects to trigger again UP TO x potency with a cooldown of y. Certain skills not being effected by the job's time skills, like many skills for the job might accelerate cooldowns, but some might be exceptions which lore may even be built around.
