Role players please DO NOT do this!

To all of you. I fully understood that it was an option to ask them to stop. I'm not that naïve. But my anxiety makes that hard. I kept having worries about making things awkward and/or ruining THEIR experience if I did so. Which is what stopped me. I cant role play with randoms, because again, I have bad anxiety. The point of me even making this thread was to hopefully get anyone who had thoughts of doing this to not do so in the first place. My point was never 'should I have asked them to stop?'

But the situation you described is such a rare occurrence. I've been playing for nearly a year and have not come across anything like this before.
I understand you're anxious, but you have no issue in explaining yourself on the forums so what's stopping you from saying something when you're in that situation? There's nothing wrong with being anxious but realistically, you're talking to people online and if anyone reacts negatively towards you; just blacklist them - you have tools at your fingertips for your own comfort.

I was tanking a roulette with randoms and got Aetherochemical Research Facility. There was a couple of players in that run that were role playing as if they were doing their own storyline type of thing and kept trying to rope me and the other player into their role playing. Neither of us was interested as they should've been able to tell when we weren't talking.

To make matters worse these people kept poking hints at us like 'These warriors are mighty quiet.' or 'I wonder why they're not talking...' This drove my anxiety up really bad. And I just kept doing emotes at them to try to keep the mood light between the entire party. Their persistence felt like borderline harassment to my oversensitive ass. But I cant get that upset since I didn't ask them to stop in the first place. The other party member was not having any of it. You should've seen how fast he left after the dungeon was over. Left via the duty menu so quickly he did.

The run was not pleasant for me at all. I do role play but mainly with friends, and definitely not in duty finder dungeons with randoms I literally met 5 seconds ago. So please... don't try to force/rope other people into your role play. Or at least just me.

I mean i dont see why their chat box drove your anxiety up, minimize the box and just play the game without reading chat.

Someone once said, "you cannot control the world, only your reaction to it." as for the anxiety, the only thing I can tell you is what, someone very wise once told me, all those doubts, fears, anxieties, those weights that hold you back and drag you down into the mire of your own mind, they are as nothing when compared to the potential that shines within you. is it easy to overcome these things, to fight one's own demons? , no. But, with time, it's a war you can win. So, keep your head up, and never stop fighting.

Then I'd like to genuinely ask you again: If they weren't in character and instead two people chatting about something inane while still commenting that you and the other player weren't talking, would this still be an issue? Because if so, the sole issue sits with you and not them. Just click your chat bar off. As others have said, if they were RP walking the entire zone or eating mechanics because "My character doesn't know how to dodge" etc, that's a very different issue.

I'm not a roleplayer myself, but this entire situation just seems... I dunno, inane? Blacklist and such exist for a reason, simply use it and move on so you don't need to worry about the conversation or the response.

Roleplaying in a dungeon is annoying but if people are pushing their buttons and the dungeon is getting done theres no real issue. Ignore that chat box or switch chat tabs if you cannot keep yourself from looking, you'll be rid of them soon enough and with servers as busy as they are now you won't likely be seeing them again.

You're overreacting, and saying "but I have anxiety" isn't going to change that -- so do I. I've had RPers and people continuing extremely personal conversations that they were obviously having before the duty. As long as the dungeon is being cleared in a timely fashion, just ignore them. Switch to a different chat tab if it's that bothersome.

They likely wanted to fight mobs/gain exp and explore as exploration doesn't provide either. It's also inconsiderate for you to say leave RP out of PUG groups like sometimes you'll get luck and get someone who will go along with you or become a friend. Like if it bugs you close chat or mute chat sounds.

So long as they weren't gimping the run they're doing fine. They have every right to use the chat box so long as they are not harassing you. And it seems they weren't, considering you said nothing to indicate you were uncomfortable with the situation. From someone who has a diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder: Suck. It. Up. If you're uncomfortable with something either say something or don't complain when others can't read your mind.
