Puppet master or beast tamer job.

I think it would be good for them to make an original job to be the DoT caster. The two obvious candidates are already in the game in one form or another (Time Mage and Geomancer).
A good base would be Gaia since she has unique spells and a unique weapon to boot. A mix between DoT bleeds from physically hitting them with long charge up melee attacks and long range dark magic DoTs.

I’ve always been partial to DoT jobs myself, not necessarily our prior Summoner mind you. But I find them fun. Anything I like the idea of a Time Mage being the DoTs but I don’t know how exactly it would work. Maybe spells related more to space instead of time?

This is the right of it, I think if players really like DoT SE could design a job around it with the kit it needs. Like consuming dots for one hit, pausing, or whatever wacky balance tools can make it line up nicely to the current game mechanics.
A while ago I had suggested an Eldritch like themed dark job, I feel dark but not the purple / black could be fun. Not even entirely 'dark' as just more into that Lovecraftian mystery (or other themes akin). Which I also think you could place necromancer vibes really easily without having to come up with an excuse why many quests say necromancers go to jail and don't pass go lol.
I'm not saying you couldn't figure out that, but just that adjacent ideas probably could flow /far/ more easily. Similar to when people told me we couldn't have a dark job, and I had suggested using wraiths and maybe reaper like concepts lol. We could get the crows, tendrils, ancient spirits, blue dark magic rather than the purples, etc. More akin to a bone necromancer in diablo.
I believe not hitting on 'dark' as the main theme given our current setup, even if it has those elements, would help the job feel more on it's own. Mystery, etc, maybe horror, just trying to get new takes to freshen up the concept over what some who don't like dark jobs seeing as 'emo job part 4'.
A blood mage could also be fun (was suggested in the same thread of eldritch). Of course there is the default poison concepts but ive never been entirely infatuated with that, just a personal bias.
Geomancer is interesting, afflicting people with elemental imbalances.. it's honestly dark if you think about it in terms of the story and you're essentially tempering people like a primal lol. Creating fonts of elemental bias afflicting enemies helping allies and changing how spells work.
With the right kit the job could be the affliction and enfeeblement job, with certain elements adjusted for boss mechanics (so they don't have huge issues with transition phases and such).
Though personally still hoping for a transformation based job (where that is THE gimmick, not a super Saiyan mode but actually shape shifting - Terra Bradford / FFXVI themed could be quite fun). Also a holy DD job might be a new feeling, as we have dark DD and tank, maybe the counterpart to Paladin now.
I can't think of an existing FF job that I really want to see, so more unique ideas is cool with me. Certainly Interesting opportunities in existing FF jobs not released yet, just none I'm like "why are you not made yet??? I need you now!!!".

or i dont know a crazy thought, give the dots to sch maybe the other job that shares its class with smn instead?

Old SMN.What would be a good DoT Caster Job to Replace old SMN?

Necro most def. Dunno if it fits FF lore.
How about a MIMIC based class? I wouldnt mind an Enchanter type with CHARM skills. Also, Tamer/Beast Master type of class. Something with strong pets thats not Primal based, but I know pets seem to be frowned upon here for w/e reason.
Saw this and immediately thought of WoW and became sick at the stomach. The thought of seeing some kind of hunter in this game running around with animal pets just made me vomit. I hope for the sanity of many of us, Square Enix does not make this one true.
