Square Enix just admit the servers are screwed or the client side functionality is trash but this 2002 stuff is not acceptable in 2021 and YOU CANNOT BLAME this on a chip shortage.

No other MMO developer on the planet has these type of disconnects while waiting in the queue and lets not pretend Classic WoW did not launch just 3 years ago or New World less than a few months ago.

We have recent example of this not happening with other game developers and they did not blame the chip shortage. Queues are whatever but disconnecting people for a 2002 error than resetting their queue position is a serious issue.

I'd argue that you can blame this on a semi-conductor/chip shortage to a large degree. If the global economy wasn't thrashed due to overzealous government intervention into private business affairs then server acquisition would be an easily obtainable goal. The entire supply line on a global scale is heavily damaged due to all those bad policies and state action. As a result, with literally thousands of industries needing core materials to produce their goods and being unable to acquire it efficiently. They were unable to add servers in a timely fashion.

However, the errors themselves are entirely on them. They do need to find a fix for those errors. But, people have unrealistic expectations for private companies to work miracles while the same public votes for bad government policy that harms the ability of private industry to provide goods and services those same people demand.

Not to mention the influx of World of Warcraft refugees added to server bloat, I know they saw that coming before the expansion launch.

On dev letter and thing like that the thing new player don’t read and most likely a not even aware. You don’t get a warning about it when you buy the game take a new subscription or loach the website.

If you logged into the MMO and it played like trash with server disconnects or other issues than yeah we could blame the servers but this is obviously how their client side program is connecting to those servers. This has nothing to do with chips. I can tell you it that was BECAUSE during low queue times in the morning character data is pulling correctly into the client.

As soon as they get passed 500 in queue on a datacenter the client just craps out.

Right now as it stands people are paying for a service they are not getting. The 1 month free time thing is obviously going to happen so just get it over with already.

Yes, people are paying for a service right now they're not getting. But simultaneously, people are responsible for their governments causing the global supply damage. Private companies aren't miracle workers. People expect private companies to function entirely normal, meanwhile, those same people vote for government which makes a private company unable to operate normally in the market.

This is a much bigger issue than a game development studio. This is an issue with consumers themselves empowering bad government, which harms the very same market they demand provides them goods and services. The critical mass of the public needs intellectual enlightenment, and to reign their governments in.

This problem isn't going away until people do have that enlightenment.

Your lack of comprehension isn't my problem. The market economy isn't a miracle worker. It cannot function normally when it is being harmed by bad governments across the world.
