Square Enix just admit the servers are screwed or the client side functionality is trash but this 2002 stuff is not acceptable in 2021 and YOU CANNOT BLAME this on a chip shortage.

No other MMO developer on the planet has these type of disconnects while waiting in the queue and lets not pretend Classic WoW did not launch just 3 years ago or New World less than a few months ago.

We have recent example of this not happening with other game developers and they did not blame the chip shortage. Queues are whatever but disconnecting people for a 2002 error than resetting their queue position is a serious issue.

I mean come on. Ok lets play this game. Lets say they took their dataserver capacity to 21,000 in queue from 17,000. There is no technical reason why if you are placed in that queue somewhere that it would just drop the connection to the server.

You cannot say it is a chip issue when the servers are operating perfectly fine as literally anyone in the game can tell you right now. It is an issue on the client side connecting to them that is closing the client. There is an issue with the launcher.

I'd argue that you can blame this on a semi-conductor/chip shortage to a large degree. If the global economy wasn't thrashed due to overzealous government intervention into private business affairs then server acquisition would be an easily obtainable goal. The entire supply line on a global scale is heavily damaged due to all those bad policies and state action. As a result, with literally thousands of industries needing core materials to produce their goods and being unable to acquire it efficiently. They were unable to add servers in a timely fashion.

However, the errors themselves are entirely on them. They do need to find a fix for those errors. But, people have unrealistic expectations for private companies to work miracles while the same public votes for bad government policy that harms the ability of private industry to provide goods and services those same people demand.

Except New World functions (barely) on AWS (so no chip shortage problems for them... just every single problem that comes with AWS), and 3 years ago people werent stuck at home with nothing to do, and therefore were not contributing to the extreme chip shortage we are experiencing at the moment.

Yeah but the private compagny still have oversell his product when fully aware they could not back it up si the compagny is not better than the government.

If you logged into the MMO and it played like trash with server disconnects or other issues than yeah we could blame the servers but this is obviously how their client side program is connecting to those servers. This has nothing to do with chips. I can tell you it that was BECAUSE during low queue times in the morning character data is pulling correctly into the client.

As soon as they get passed 500 in queue on a datacenter the client just craps out.

Right now as it stands people are paying for a service they are not getting. The 1 month free time thing is obviously going to happen so just get it over with already.

I have seen memes and suggestions that New world equals Endwalker. Not a good look for SE. New world is a hot mess sadly, but FF14 is no where close to that. The cult of FF14 can't shout down every corner of the net.
