Except no one is paying for early access. They are paying for the game. Paying early allows for potential to play early, but is not a guarantee. He isn't paying extra for the early weekend, there was not a $5 fee added to the monthly fee if you accessed Endwalker content this weekend.

I did not pay for early access. I paid my monthly sub. I have not been able to play the game I bought access to with my monthly sub. 2002 error are preventing people from accessing the game as a whole, not just EW.

But if you paid for 4 apples and got 7 you got 3 free apples. And you might get more...

They are "adding" 7 days, You didnt Pay for those 7 days.
Thus, they are Free.

Even if you were to go pay for 7 days right now, they are still adding 7 days to your account.
Do the math, you now have 14 days, but you only paid for half of those days, the other half was given to you for free.
So its still a Free 7 days

If I pay for 7 days of playtime to get 7 days worth of playtime and got 0 hours of playtime due to a failure on SE's part and then they add 7 days of playtime at a later date, it's NOT FREE. It's what I paid for and they didn't provide at the time I paid for it.

It's really not that hard to understand. If apples are too complex think about oranges.

The correct way to make the announcement would have been "We are reimbursing you 7 days of playtime from your subscription. We might reimburse more days at a later date if the problem persists".

More exceptions can be added like 1 hour in EW areas, I just cited some examples.

Crafter can be done at a later time after Early Access. It's not a priority.

You paid for a months subscription. At the moment they are crediting you 168 hours more for no charge. This is what we call free. Regardless of a players situation, they are being allotted these days. You can complain about your particular situation all you like and quite honestly I feel for the EU servers since they're getting gobsmacked and were obviously not prepared for this at all. Adding something you failed to supply which was paid for is not free. If you went to a store and paid for a bag of apples and they didn’t give it to you, then turned around and said “hey have a bag of apples free instead!”

If you have 30 days of Playtime, and SE gives you 7, that is 37 Days.
You paid for the 30 days, you didnt Pay for the additional 7. Thus, 7 Free Days

They didnt Fail to deliver Play time, the playtime is on your account. How can they have failed to give that to you, when its already there?

Plus how can I pay for a Bag of Apples and they didnt give me any apples? There is a Big Fundamental Flaw in your Example here, when you pay money, you get something in return as a trade. If I was gonna buy apples and they didnt give me any apples, they dont get the money.
If they suddenly decide to just give me some apples and not ask for payment, then yes, I just got free apples.
SE is not asking for you to make a another payment for those 7 days. They are Giving them to you and not asking for an additional purchase.
Thus...they are Free.
