Worst Game Release ever

Personally, they can take their seven pity days and shove them. My time is worth more than the couple of bucks of ‘good will’ they threw in. Because of the 2002 bug, my average log in time is over 4 hours, if I can get in at all, and since I work full time that means I get to do roulettes and then have to log back out.

I really doubt this will get any better any time soon. Square knew full well the number of copies of the game they sold, the number of active accounts they have and the state of Other MMOs right now, and they did nothing to prevent this fiasco. What good is seven free days when you can’t get on to play during those days?

Though I dont think its nearly the worst game release ever... the seven days dont mean anything if you cant log in. So hopefully they fix the errors so people can reliably play.

This is something else. It's been clarified and explained in more ways than one WHY those errors happen. Don't know about you, but not being able to play with my wife in the afternoon/evening is frustrating, but I won't take it out on SquareEnix.

Now, if it continues being a problem moving forward after a reasonable amount of time--that's a different story entirely. But I fully anticipate the SE will address this issue with a different card once the madness subsides.

I doubt SE will fix it… honestly a lot of the problems could be solved with a change in one simple section of their code… when people get kicked randomly for the 2002 bug, give them more time to get back into queue before they lose their place in line. Several times I’ve been queued for multiple hours, got a random kick followed by being unable to reconnect to the data center for several attempts and then finally reconnecting to find myself back at the end of the line.

I can forgive technical problems, poor coding is another thing.

As a coder, I can tell you it’s much easier that you would think. Names/addresses are kept in a floating database and checked against a server clock, if x amount of time has passed since last contact then the entry is removed from its position in the list. Increase the value of x to accommodate the current known issue and most people will be able to resume their positions in line.
