For those who have yet to see that specific scene:
The scene the OP is referring to doesn't contain any scenes of explicit violence and gore.
Shadowbringers on the other hand showed a scene of explicit violence and gore in order to get players to familiarize how the situation on The First is in terms of the sin eaters.
The scene isnt even the first time this has happened, remember a certain notable character checking out before? For those who have yet to see that specific scene:

I personally feel like once he
grabs the gun
it’s relatively obvious what’s going to happen. Look away if need be. I found myself crying to my partner afterwards, but I still wouldn’t’ve wanted a trigger warning for that. And I’m someone who has faced plenty of moments such as that.
On another note, welcome back Damien.
I think it's less that the game needs trigger warnings and more that people that can't handle fiction need therapy
I am sorry for your depressed state. But Endwalker is about the end of the world, so it was predictable that the subject would not be happy with little birds and hearts.REVEAL THE FOLLOWING TEXT AT YOUR OWN RISK. IT CONTAINS MAJOR ENDWALKER SPOILERS. IF YOU DONT WANT GARLMALDS PLOTLINES RUINED FOR YOU, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU BACK OUT NOW.
When the Legatus of the first legion kills himself with a gun, I had to seriously consider my own mental health. I have a lot of depression and have had a history of suicidal thoughts at times. The way that the story shows the suicide, and then the aftermath of his loss actually helping the united front in Garlmald really made me shake a bit to the point I had to get some rest.
It might of been that I had stayed up for so long, and the fact that the Garlmald part of the story is DARK. Its as dark if not darker than the entirety of the first, and it goes like this for hours.. with the conclusion being well.. that.
Had to debate upon myself if also taking a similar action would help my loved ones, and I had to seriously take a break and catch myself with that thought.. I am okay now, but it really wasn't a fun thing to process.
Square Enix, please consider putting a trigger warning if you ever put suicide in the game again; BEFORE the cutscene begins. Just say in addition to the time that you need to invest to watch the cutscene, that the content may very well affect those struggling with poor mental health, that you advise watching it at a time when you can mentally handle content which may be hard on the mind.
Cutscenes like this REALLLY need trigger warnings. Not just for adults like me, but if any teens are playing this, I can't imagine being in their shoes. When I was growing up my mental health was even worse than now, because it can be hard to adjust to life with these subjects. Especially if you have never had a suicidal thought until recently, and you don't know what getting through it feels like. Getting through it the first few times is always the hardest. You have to learn the coping skills, and get some help.
I don't blame you, but it's predictable. It's like people thinking, this is gonna be cool, we're gonna play Nier Automata or Nier. Games you shouldn't play if you're depressed.
It's suppose to stand out and shock, that's the point. Life is shocking and dark at times, that is the reality of it and if art imitates life, art will be shocking sometimes. And if something like this bothers you, it is a indicator that something needs to be examined and unpacked. That is how we grow, growth is difficult and painful at times, all change is.
So this entire arc and the gruesome ending are all heavily inspired by the end of WWII when Hitler and the last of the SS were in the fuhrerbunker in Berlin. Watch the movie Downfall (Der Untergang) - it's a brilliant depiction of the last days of the war there.
At least we didn't have anyone going full Goebbels on their own families in this scene.... although the sisters represent that mindset pretty well.

As expected, TC has conveniently neglected to respond to the sourced (DOI 10.1177/2167702620921341) statement that trigger warnings ineffective at best and harmful at worst (a significant population in said study reported said negative thoughts after reading the trigger warnings before then reading the triggering material.)
The actual world isnt all rainbows and sunshine and neither is this one. Doesnt need a warning.
