So... as much as we all hoped that they will unlock everything at once, where do they say that they will add everything at once? Unless I'm blind - they didn't. All they said is that males are done with no issue females used to have from the beginning (which supposedly should mean that it should be easier to add new haircuts in future, be it unlocking old ones or designing new ones).

I get the feeling of dissapointment, which is justified, but accusing developers of lie when there was no lie in the first place doesn't seem like a right way to make a complaint nor argument.

Yeah, maybe shady practice is starting to sound better. Announcing a class will have no limitations to boost hype and fantasia sales and then just releasing 3 new styles, which is fewer than the female counterpart, which has limitations... Weird...
People now seem disappointed and frustrated about hairstyles, wonder why. Maybe these people will fantasia back. Moar money. I've been on this boat for 2 years and this is disgusting, tbh. Why weren't they honest from the beginning? Was it that difficult? "Hey we will release more heirsyles for females AND males in the future even though they have no restrictions" They knew this moment was coming. THEY KNEW. They have been reading about viera and hrothgar for 2 years and they added the styles and built males differently for a reason, but suddenly decided to keep quiet about that for no reason? Not buying excuses any more.

It just feels rushed, like some of the other hairs just look kind of... bad.. as well. That hairband is just particularly egregious. I guess they wanted the PR, or didn't want female viera to feel left out that male viera got some hairs? Granted, I'm not sure if the hairs for males look any good either..

I don't think it was a pity or a PR thing. Male Viera got the same amount of "new" hairstyles as female Viera, and basically the same ones at that. They got Snow instead of Lightning and a different legacy hairstyle but the others are the same and I assume they look the same on them as well.

Maybe they were made like this on purpose.. to be all like: "see, this is why we never bothered in the first place!", "Now stop bugging us!".

Personally I don't really mind all that much how it looks, I mean it looks really bad but I just thought it was funny how adamant people were that the mods looked trash and SE would never put anything out looking like that.

Like, I PERSONALLY can logic it away as being "2 hair clips!" but like ... you couldn't give that a hair texture to cover it up? No lock of hair to go over it, like on the top of the head? Was this not complete?

They REALLY don't like making custom hair, which is why they didn't want to do this in the first place. I actually think they shoulda stuck with their "We're only gonna make unique hair for them" stance, cause most of these 6 look lame or outdated. Like, who out here cares about basic ponytail or 9S hair? The Karen hair is the clear winner, woulda preferred Early to Rise over most of the others.

I think I remember seeing a more recent quote by them, stating how they weren't going to do any further hairs, and then referencing these ones. Which was news to me. Maybe somebody recalls this? Might be in this thread even. Anyway, yeah, they don't seem too willing to do more than the minimum racial hairs they start with, and not much custom work to begin with - which may be why I suspect they still haven't done hempen sets.

I am very happy about bunnymen, but this expansion is just so weird to me. They have reskins of multiple gear for instance...

I haven't got into dungeons to see what is new or recycled there, but it's entirely normal for them to be recycling gear, particularly the crafted sets. Some of the colour scheme choices seem odd though, plus revisiting recent dyeable sets over older ones yet to be made dyeable.

They were never going to do that, look at what they posted when they announced these.

We’d previously announced we’d be unable to add more hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar as they are designed in a special way compared to other races. However, we saw an extreme number of requests from across the globe, so the development team set out to rework the system and finally made it possible to add more hairstyles after almost two years.

They never actually "announced this" previously or we wouldn't have been impatiently waiting and asking when the stuff they actually announced would be coming, but as it turns out they were straight up unable to add anything to either Viera or Hrothgar before they did their rework, and now the long delay makes sense.

Now that female Viera has received their rework and male Viera has it baked-in we'll see what it means going forward in terms of hairstyles, but if this is truly the best they could do I don't know if expecting they'll be able to remove the Fantasia restriction for Hrothgar is even an option.

But yeah it's not saying they're not going to do more after this, it's saying that apparently even though they told us we'd see more in Shadowbringers they're now claiming told us previously they would be unable to add more before they did this rework. Silly us for misunderstanding, right?

The work is done now so we can assume (but not expect) it won't be another 2 years, but they definitely fudged the facts about what they originally told us a bit.

Yeah, that's what I was referencing, because I remember initially them saying that viera would get hairs, and then they said they would get custom or racial specific hairs, but now they are saying they told us previously they were unable to add any additional hairs? I don't remember them EVER saying that, in all the discussions we've had on here, you'd think somebody would have brought up a quote stating that?

First of all, this isn't true. Both female and male Viera have 17 racial haricuts, 1 common haircut anf 5 unlockable haircuts:

This was his original answer from Gamewatch interview back from June, 2019, shortly before 5.0 release. This is pretty much the only thing I'm able to find right now as it was translated from Japanese to English by reddit team and can be easily tracked down in their discord. Old English interviews and are a bit hard to find now that there are too many fresh search results that match the key words.

However: From the very beginning Yoshida said that they have issues with adding existing haircuts for them. From the very beginning he said they can't promise they will add all of them. From the very beginning he said they can't promise that they will even add male Viera (which iirc was an answer from moderator here on Forums?), which they did in the end. It quite obviously was harder than people think it was.

I don't know what kind of honesty you expect at this point, really. They were as transparent as they likely could be consideing that a lot of information about development is under NDA even for higher ups. He can't just give every single bit of info on a gold plate just because players demand it. His vague "sorry, I can't say that for now" answers during letters about various things people ask about show as much.

They said that male Viera don't have same restriction that they had to fix for female Viera. They, in fact, don't. They come from the box with additional haircuts that weren't available to female Viera on their release. They provided exactly what they said.

Once more: I get the dissapoitment. I had the hope that they will add more haircuts, if not all of them, right away just as much as everyone else did. However, calling DevTeam shady and saying they lied when in reality they didn't lie isn't a right course of actions. It's not any better than what some people did at 5.0 release with throwing threats and curses on them for the abscense of Male Viera.
