No, you are wrong about that...That's why different countries have different starting dates for winter. Since it's an international fanfest event it's better to just be honest and say the month instead of the season which is different for everyone. Yes, I know November is fall in Japan... but it's not in America. Also November isn't even fall or winter in Australia it's like spring or summer there.
Winter does begin at the Winter's Solstice (In the northern emisphere), which is 21th December
This day is set by the earth rotation, not controlled by politics. It is a scientifical fact.

lol, no.
They're 100% right that different countries and different cultures use different starting dates, and the reason that happens is because while the furthest point of Earths axial tilt is rather set in stone, the definition of winter is not.
It's not even 21st December across all the science. Meteorology is a science, and they use 1st December as the start of Winter.

You are confusing meterologic winter with true winter (astronomical)

Meteorolical Winter vs Calendar Winter in that case. Though I'll agree "true" isn't the right term, it's clear that Square Enix is using Calendar Seasons. Which are dictated by the Solstices and Equinoxes, rather than what the weather happens to be doing.
For example, outside yesterday where I live it was 77 degrees farenheight. That's a temperature most associate with late spring or early summer. Doesn't make December 2nd suddenly Spring / Summer just because the meteorlogy is being screwy (and the week before it was 40 degrees)
Well, you use Farenheight, so even though i dont believe in ad hominem, i cant take your knowledge of science too seriously...Meteorolical Winter vs Calendar Winter in that case. Just. Stop. Posting.
Seriously guys...
Meteorological winter.
Meteorological winter runs from Dec. 1 through the end of February. Meteorologists break the calendar up into four three-month seasons, and each season is based on the similarity of the weather. Astronomical winter is based on equinoxes and solstices.
Akshully guysth, I think you'll find traditional orthodox hungarian winter begins at midday on the 17th of December.
