Being invincible for 30 seconds wasn't useful? Doing 5 minutes worth of attacks in 30 seconds wasn't useful? Completely healing your entire party wasn't useful?No. 2hr abilities(most) were for the most part useless. All were extremely underpowered for an ability that is on a 2hr cooldown. To actually have an ability thats on a 2hr cooldown and be worth it most would then say "Its too overpowered!"
I would prefer each job(when they are added) getting a 30min cd ability that is actually useful.
edit: They also lasted about 20 seconds? 30 at most for some jobs. It was a horrible way to implement an ability overall. In the end they just were used for brief fun every 2hrs.
They all were underpowered for a 2hr cd. PLD, WHM, MNK had the best 2hr in the game. However for an ability that took 2hrs just to use again they were still underpowered. Hell give them an hr cd at most but the rest lacked a lot.
BLU, RDM, DRG, DRK, BST, RNG, NIN, SCH, DNC, and PUP may not have been completely useless(with certain ones effectiveness ranging) but not very amazing for something you had to wait 2hrs for.
I have rarely seen people use those jobs abilities to some grand degree. Most of the time they were used just for fun.
Even whm ability was a cool 2hr but still you had to wait 2hrs before you could use again? The 2hr abilities at most barely gave you a boost to survive so why have them on a 2hr cd for such minimal results. The mnk some could say had the best ability overall but it still wasn't a 2hr cd worth special.

I dunno, i dont like to have skills that i never use. Its like going through a FF game and i keep going "Oh i'll save those elixers till i need them" and then i finish the game with 14 and never used one.

there's a lot of games that have "oh crap" buttons that are on 5-10-15-30m timers. They dont even have to be as powerful as a 2 hour ability to fill that role as a skill.
edit: and for game balance purposes they obviously shouldn't be as powerful as a 2 hour ability, looking as cool wont hurt though.
Ya, man! I'd really like to see something cool for Puglists. I'm all for a 2hour ability with things like in the above post, but I'd be more interested if it was a 30 minute cooldown and not 2 hours. 1 hour at the most, 30 minutes preferred.

Hate to say this, but the only useful 2 hrs were Invincible, Benediction, Chainspell, Perfect Dodge, Trance, Tabula Rasa, Meikyo Shisui, Wild Card, Hundred Fists and Astral Flow (after Alexander was made a special summon)
Mijin Gakure was only useful for a free death warp/removing weakness, Sidewinder/Slug Shot did more damage than Eagle Eye Shot, and Azure Lore was only good for a single spell. Spirit Surge was helpful in a bind, but cost you your wyvern for it's duration (possibly longer), Manafont was good, but not always useful due to casting times, Bloodweapon was only useful if you had a low delay or multihit weapon equipped, and Familiar despite lasting longer than all other 2 hrs combined would wear off if your pet died, which could happen often at high levels. The remaining ones, I don't think I ever used
In summary, only about half of the available two hours were really worth using, the rest were either mediocre or just useless. As Sorel pointed out, it created favoritism of certain jobs among players, so there was no reason to try new party setups, even when the ideal setups were unavailable. (which was one reason why you could be sitting in towns for your entire gaming session lfg)
To that end, I don't think I would want 2 hrs.
