I hate playing as other characters

Only reason I don't like playing as other random characters is my lack of how to play certain jobs and that makes the experience annoying.
Luckily those are pretty easy and the occations have been few and far apart.
But I do expect at least one of those in Endwalker.

With the Alisaie duty I'd say this is an actual issue, just because it expects you to cast spells and then do a melee combo like RDM.

With the rest of the RP duties, there's no relationship between the character and the Job they happen to have. You don't need to know how DRG works to play as Estinien, you don't need to know how AST works to play as Uriangier. Their abilities have very little in common with the actual Jobs.

Alisaie's tooltips aren't that good tbh. It's not exactly clear, unless you already know how RDM works, what you are supposed to do with her from reading her tooltips. Fortunately that fight is pretty easy.

I dislike them largely because I have my primary skills mapped to NUMpad, don't usually use hotbar 1 the way it wants.

I almost always die during those RP duties haha. Lately I finally learned to die pretty quick and restart it in Very Easy to make the pain end sooner lol. I'm trash XD

on a side note, it would be way cooler to be "playing these RP" character, but have our main character join midway during the fight but do like a huge theatrical entrance, and we switch over back, that would be super cool

Not saying this to say "you're wrong!" but I like them (to each their own I suppose), but particularly I like them when they give them more skills. Later roleplay events have more skills, I like those. The earlier ones were more 1 to 3 skills only, which was a bit too bare for me.

I hope we can use this system to do crazy things occasionally, like play as a primal, Emet, Shantotto... or other absolutely bonker concepts. Play as Hydalen herself, galaxy scale fighting- Asura Wrath vibes lol.

May also use this for your own character, instead of rp, but an aside idea is using battle system for non-strictly battle related themes. Like you're at a tea dinner using "attacks, traps, defense" arguments.. (a 'battle' of wits).

RP Duties are fine... concept wise.

I just don't like having to spend more than 3 or 4 minutes spamming certain braindead rotation dealing chip damages while waiting for something to happen. Rerunning these duties in ShB MSQ via NG+ under Easy or Very Easy mode made this very bearable surprisingly. Not trying to say that I want everything to be Very Easy Mode... but I wish it has a faster pacing to not let me mentally twiddling my thumb.

I've never understood this complaint, even though it pops up all the time. It's just a few duties. five or ten minutes of your life for said duties, and then it puts you back into your character.

You play as your character for hundreds to thousands of hours in this game... playing as another character for 10 minutes for a story related bit of content every now and then is not that big of a deal.

My main gripe with them besides they tend to feel slow, is that they put the actions on the pet action bar, which is not convenient for me at all. My keybinds and location of the pet action bar work well for that purpose, but are annoying af for combat and hamper my movement.

I'm just waiting for the eventual playing as Tataru and going through the expense reports to file for the Scion's taxes to the grand companies.
