SE re-dropping the FFXIV Version 1.0 trailer this close to the expansion? I’m not gonna lie, I sat on the edge of my seat to see if they might have added anything significant, or left some kind of teaser at the end. Nothing that I could see, though.

Side note: OMG the nostalgia. And the hilarity. My partner off to the side watching a conjurer use a WHM bubble, Fire and Blizzard magic, and a buff to the baby boy Archer (who spoke! Wut) and just kinda lost his mind in confusion. I’ll admit I attempted to play the original version back then and just couldn’t; but one thing I remember is Conjurer and Thaumaturge way back then, compared to now.

The Battle of Silvertear Falls. You know, the event that killed Midgarsormr and unleashed something from the lake? We're probably going to learn a lot about what Middy was protecting and what, beyond all the primals that appeared from the big aether explosion, came out.

The significance is it involves Midgardsormr, the family of who have a part to play in Endwalker. There are questions surrounding their origin as well. The trailer remains lore relevant in certain areas so maybe they would like more people to have seen it.

or
- A offline Version of 1.0. that will be more similar to Monster Hunter in terms of Online Gameplay (Reason for this, is because the Trailer doesnt have the word "Online" in it, which every MMO has)

There's really nothing significant about it, it's just for nostalgia (it is literally just a straight reupload of 1.0's opening movie, right down to retaining the old 1.0 logo and title). As Iscah said, it's just to show where the game came from given the symbolic 'end' of EW winding up that original story that started in 1.0, as beyond EW the story will be taken in a new direction.

Also much of what was shown in that movie was either wrong, changed during development or outright replaced or retconned even by 1.0's actual launch itself, so it's just spectacle and nothing more (like the aetheryte in the middle of the Adventurer's Guild, the Adventurer's Guild shown being an early concept for Limsa Lominsa's 'Drowning Wench' as proven by the guildleve plate Derplander holds having 'Limsa Lominsa' stencilled on it, how the Echo was depicted in 1.0 being indistinguishable from reality other than a subtle gong and woosh effect at the start, skills and spells that did not make it into the final game like Derplander's 'Enfire' arrow attack, the original cross-class Armoury System allowing such oddities as GLA using Esuna, THM using Protect and Blizzard - all those spells were CNJ spells in 1.0 originally - and that whole fight with the malboro was depicted was actually showing how the old 'Battle Regimen' system worked that was scrapped long ago.

Also the other openings from ARR and the expansions are still available in the game anyway and are able to be viewed at any time by selecting 'Movies' from the main title screen - 1.0's opening being the exception. So it's possible SE reuploaded it for completion's sake for those who never played 1.0 before, to see FFXIV's origins.

I remember watching this trailer for the first time and obviously not knowing anything about FFXIV yet I found it extremely bizarre that he picks up that leve card, has a vision of himself dying from falling out of an airship and his response is…. “Let’s do this one!”.
