1st time preparing for an expansion

If I play one job through the entire 6.0 MSQ. Would it be tough to gear up another job(s) for high-end side content?

I've read a speculation that ilv 510 gear should be able to get you through 6.0. Does that mean I don't have to worry about grinding and gearing up when questing through 6.0 main story?

I ask only because I want to save time and still couldn't decide what job to play through 6.0. Certainly I'm convinced to play PLD but I ain't a fan of its actions and its, with all due respect, terrible job backstory.

Then play what you want instead of feeling like you must be PLD just because of the launch trailer. The story should be job agnostic as usual. I can't think of anything in the previous MSQs that made me feel like I should have been using one of the jobs featured in the cinematics.

Considering past expansion patterns, 510 probably won't cut it all the way when the initial gear rewards we get from MSQ will almost certainly be 515. 530 would get you most of the way, supplemented by any higher level dungeon drops you pick up at the tail end of the MSQ.
