Baffling behavior

Hate to break this out: if venting is what they wish to do, there’s another more suitable thread to do just that. It’s the classic TfDF thread. THAT would be the perfect place to vent regardless of one’s actual performance—it’s made for that. Heck the first post of that thread blatantly said “Let’s vent.”. Less people giving a damn of whether the stories are actually true or not, and they OP get to vent out their frustration: it’s a win-win.

Meanwhile this is a new thread in discussion forum. Not exactly suitable, imho. This is basically like making a statement in an open forum and demanding everybody on the board to not refute nor making any comments against said statement. Even a twitter post would suit better than this… mess.

At this point, I'm just making my ignore list bigger. People here are missing the overall point and just want to troll.

If you want to add me to your list then that's fine, but I haven't insulted you in any way. I was looking at both sides of that particular point. I read your OP and subsequent responses. While I don't necessarily agree with your mentality on some things, it's still a team effort. Everyone has to do their part, especially the healers. If they aren't keeping you alive then that's an issue. A pretty big one actually, seeing as they keep the group going at all. But if you aren't doing what you can to keep yourself alive then that's another issue entirely. I'm mostly just trying to keep in mind that we are only hearing one side of this.

We tried to 'lay off' many times throughout this thread. OP is the one who not only refuses to let go (as evidenced by their reply to the thread that had been dormant for 3 days) but also feels the need to belittle everyone that 'dares' to share opinions that differ from their own.

I'm quite literally asking them to stop posting and drop this so we can all move on with our lives and the forums be cluttered with one less pointless thread.

What I don’t understand is OP said many pages back that he finished the dungeon and it was all fine. He said he isn’t looking for pointers/tips and he’s tanking just fine. Why don’t you guys lay off and find something better to do with your time than continuing to harass this poor guy.

P.S. OP I am so sorry you have been treated this way. These few bad apples aren’t a representation on most of the ffxiv community I assure you. You didn’t ask for peoples tips but they just went in on you. Disgusting. If I were you I’d stop responding because the more you respond the more they will keep going. Just let this thread die. This is one of the most significant drawbacks to having such an outwardly 'positive' community; It creates an environment where it's difficult to hold people accountable for essentially taking advantage of others.

In my general experience, people white-knighting on behalf of types like OP are usually doing so because they're defending their own pattern of behavior by proxy. They recognize that OP is of a similar nature, so they feel it's advantageous on some level to help portray them as a victim.

Hell I just checked your profile, you're level 79 in full augmented Scaeven gear you literally learned nothing.

400 ilvl to 416 ilvl isn't a huge jump and isn't half as important as people are making it out to be, to be honest, you can still easily w2w mt. gulg with it

Just in general, even making mild suggestions about anything having to do with how people play is met with either complete silence or people losing their minds.

Couple of days ago I did Qitana Ravel and had to Tank as SAM because the Tank was a booster and was just randomly using his cds on cd and only random single target attacks on one mob at a time ( he still double pulled ).
At the start he was talking and everything so he was clearly not a mute, and neither were the others I think they knew each other.

After a couple of pulls I said '' so I am SAM tanking? '' and the Healer responds with lol.
Couple of more pulls and somehow managing first boss I said '' Tank can you use some AoE please? I am getting the aggro ''.
Complete silence and he continued doing the same thing, I was Tanking the whole way through and no one listened to me on last boss and we actually ran out of time, first time that has ever happened for me.
They actually did talk too at last boss Tank included and were just spaming wtf and such when they died to every mechanic.
I marked myself and everything and explained the mechanics but nope, nothing got through to them.

Some people are just hopeless, no matter how hard you try they can't even manage something as simple as pushing their AoE button.
Even just the one button would've been better than what this Tank was doing but nah couldn't even do that even when pointed out to him.

I've had people lose their minds and get mad at me too for telling a SAM to not stand in front of the boss in Nier Raids.
The SAM even responded to me and said thanks, I think he had boosted too and was new didn't know what was going on, but after everyone lost their minds at me the SAM thought I was in the wrong and went back to standing in front of the boss and died constantly to cleaves.

This stuff is just one of the most baffling and annoying thing about the FFXIV community to me.
I still think FFXIV has the best community, but this is just one of the quirks that I truly don't understand.
Everyone acts as if literally any comment on how someone is playing is the same as being toxic, it's not.
