I think the "You'll go that far?" thing will be a time jump. Endwalker might end with us, the Warrior of Light, sacrificing ourselves to save the world. Our friends will labor to bring us back and when they finally succeeded, it will be 5 years into the future.

I think a time skip is the likeliest ending, and I've seen a few people suggest an ending scene that involves something akin to the ending of 1.0, where people remember your name and deeds, but forget who you 'are', so to speak.

That is my best guess how Season 1 may end in 6.0 since it will also provide Season 2 with a semi-clean slate for the new Season 2 storyline in 6.1. The WoL ends up sacrificing himself/herself so that the Final Days can be prevented and create a new world free from the influence of Zodiark and Hydaelyn with Hydaelyn agreeing this is the only way of course since at this point she my see that the world no longer need her influence and by removing herself from the equation, she also removes any risk of Zodiark returning as well.

Yes everything still happens but no one may remember what happened and who WoL is. Thus a semi-clean slate so they can have Season 2 focus a bit on introducing a new group of allies for the WoL and providing a story about how WoL deals with no one remembering him/her anymore during 6.1 to 6.55 while maybe eventually reintroducing the Scions slowly since each Scion may have moved on to deal with their own personal issues with the whole Ascion and Zodiark issues over. Not to mention the Season 1 plot makes it very clear the major factor of why WoL gets dragged into all these political conflicts and etc is due to how famous he/she is so almost everyone and anyone wants WoL to get involved in world changing events. The other being WoL's duty as the Defender of the Star. With the slate semi-cleaned, WoL is now considered a normal adventurer again and less likely to be dragged into political conflicts until Season 2 is given enough time to builds up the new Season 2 antagonists and WoL establish a new fame that makes people start to consider dragging WoL into political conflicts.

This will also give a opportunity for Yoshi-p and the development team to create possible emotional reunions with the Scions during Season 2 storyline since they may not remember as well until a certain point in the Season 2 storyline or maybe never remember but a part of them will always feel a sense of bond with the WoL.
