That's not true either. Yoshida clearly said he was so focused on the details of the story that it ate into the final QA time. That's all. There was no issue (at least, not as a reason for the delay, though result of QA could reveal an issue), just regular development being delayed due to spending too much time on ensuring the quality of the story (which I personally have no problem with as the story is the main draw of the game for me).

The QA time is just even more important now with potentially so many more players who will be experiencing the expansion, but it's still what they would've done even without the delay.

With the original release date, I would not have enough time to farm the last Cryptlurker set due to the revalation tome cap.

Now, I'm glad that I have two more weeks cuz of the delay. It is as if my monkey's paw wish come too, cuz I can finally finish... (check my spreadsheet). Never mind, I still need one more week to get the last piece of the last set.

I don't really mind if Yoshi-P requires one more week for whatever he feels necessary to make the delay, lol.

To anyone who feels the need to take off multiple days of work for the release of any video game:

Please, please please diversify your hobbies to involve more self-care and less enslavement to corporatized media. Go on a hike. Do some yoga. Give cooking a try. Pick up some pop sci book or an instrument. If you already were so obsessive as to take time off from work, do stuff like this instead anyway and develop a more robust lifestyle for the next time your anticipated game is delayed.

FF XIV is great but unless you are making money as a streamer you should not let yourself become this dependent. X Blockbuster will still be available and just as good a week or a month or a year after it releases. Endwalker will assuredly still exist next year from now and be the same experience minus the frenetic hype and probably shorter queue times.

And to anyone like OP who says the delay was a bad idea: you clearly have NO appreciation for XIV's legacy and what made it great in the first place.

    IDK man... I already
    - read
    - run a D&D game
    - play the piano
    - am studying Japanese
    - exercise
    - and I have a girlfriend and healthy relationships that exist outside of their relation to my hobbies

But I took a day off for End Walker because
A.) I need a break and the release is an above average time for one.
B.) It's fun to be excited about things.

You might wanna reread what you typed, because you just come off as condescending.

I don't care if it does come off as condescending, it's something I think some people, especially the creator of this thread, need to hear.

And I don't really care exactly what interests other people invest in as long as they don't become so invested in a single piece of media--created by people who barely know they exist--that their lives are so impacted by a *two week* delay. That is not psychologically healthy, no matter how many posts on here offer shallow reassurance. Diversifying investments is almost *always* good advice, at least when compared to putting all your happiness eggs into one basket.

AND I think you are doing great and generally not the sort of person I am criticizing. There is a substantial difference between taking one day off and taking an entire week or two off, across several axes. I was specifically addressing people taking multiple days off from work, which is where I think it starts to become unhealthy.

This is one of the worst decisions made? Not even close. Delay it if it needs to. Honor the original relase date?...well it's obvious they wont....it's delayed. You can still play it when its released, if you make time for it then it can be done (obv we dont know your life) but if its THAT important to you then make time.

At the same time, who are you or anyone else to shame people for having video game as their hobby in their busy lives and want to take their hard earned vaction to play on launch?

    I know myself as someone in the mid 30s with familylife and whatnot, playing a game is the one of few activities I have time for, outside of;

    - Spending time with loved ones
    - Going to the gym
    - Reading
    - What else that takes up time in your adult life
    - etc

While I agree with the idea of having multiple diverse hobbies rather than just one I stop well short of telling people what to do with what little free time they have or how to use their precious vacation days. I won't wear for a minute people lecturing me how to use mine and I dont tell others how to use theirs.

I cant understand why its so difficult to have empathy for those disappointed, while actually supporting the decision made by SE and leaving it at that.

    This exactly. Thank you.
