True, my main point was that they did side with the talent even if it was because of fanbase backlash. Most companies say screw the fanbase and cater to the Chinese market instead.

true true, though I asked a friend who's heavily into vtubers and he said that they still do content and cater to the chinese market, despite coco and fubuki being harassed for weeks/months by said groups, so I wouldn't particularly say that they've stopped doing business there :P

They did cease their CH branch, and cut ties with their talent there who may or may not have spurred harrassment against Coco. Smart move, considering how much EN exploded.

China's market actually isn't holding the weight it used to because the growth or expansion of their economy has slowed considerably in recent years. So choices like that may become more common going forward.

Apparently, Pekora's continued playing offstream, and got to around Tamtara Deepcroft. Also, bans are being doled out to players who were stream sniping her. So there's that, at least.

IRyS is going to be streaming today, and folks have been warning her about steps she can take to curtail this. Hopefully folks have taken the hint by now, though.

Honestly I'd say Pekora's biggest issue was streaming right from the start at character creation. Starting out fresh it's really easy to figure out where she's at since there's 3 starting locations and its chosen by the job selected at creation. And starting out you don't even have access to the teleport ability. If she'd played a bit first to unlock some of the game's features gated behind the MSQ the swarming might not have been as bad or at least she would have had options for running away. Limsa tends to be crowded to begin with. A massive swarm of fans following you around while trying to do the initial ARR MSQ line and + symbol sidequests to unlock things would definitely have an extremely high annoyance potential. But after progressing a bit I could see fun to be had with viewers doing trials, 8 and 24 player raids, bozja, eureka, super fates, etc... It would probably take someone with her popularity just to get enough ppl to show up in order to do some of the earlier super fates. Though in her case it would probably overpopulate the area creating the lag fest we all experienced when new ones were added with an expansion launch.

Honestly surprised they haven't consulted the actual resident XIV player on-staff for advice on setting up the HUD and stream elements to hide identifying info to make it harder to swarm the others.

I think Ina mentioned that she won't help them with any early level stuff due to her being a triple legend and wanting them to play the game as first timers
plus, if someone would set their stuff up it might mean less content :P
